NERD Genetic Certification?
Hello, I recently purchased a 1.1 pair of 100% het clowns. These were the first hets I ever purchased or owned so I'm a little nervous about this deal. The owner who sold them to me told me they were purchased from NERD at a reptile show about a year ago. He sent me a picture of a signed genetic certification from NERD. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this is legit or not. http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m...4/IMAG0220.jpg

Why didnt he include that and why is he only sending you a pic instead?

He was supposed to include it, we talked about that before I purchased them. But today when I got the snakes it wasn't in the box. I texted him and he responded saying his son forgot to include it and he will mail it to me.
I emailed NERD earlier but no reply yet. Idk if I'm just paranoid about this but I don't trust people to much and don't like getting screwed out of money.

This is from the nerd website... Doesn't look good:
Genetics are 100% guaranteed as described.:cens0r: Hets are sent with signed, authorized photo-ID documentation, and copies are retained here for future reference.
I don't see a picture.
-
I smell a fake..No NERD letter head. and the paper is to freshly crumpled. Look at the wording "You have acquired a pair of 100% NERD Ball pythons".. Double red alert genetic guarantee's 99.995% of the time are for individual animals, not groups. Also the wording of " this guarantee's that the snakes purchased are 100% heterozygous Clown and of genetic origin"
I'm smelling fishy all over this one.
I'm gunna shoot this to Andy and Kev and see what they say real quick.

Thats exactly what I'm paranoid about. I read that earlier. I don't want to throw his name out there but he's on these forums and posted a shady thread about 2 months ago but I didn't discover this until earlier today. I'll send the link in a minute
-
This is link to his fourm, and these are the exact snakes that he sent me. They are exactly alike.... http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...ify-this-MORPH

A snakes pattern is like a finger print. If you can match the pattern between the snakes you got and the ones in that thread then you have problems. I hope you didn't pay too much for these guys...

I am holding one of the snakes in my hand as we speak and They are 100% identical, pattern for pattern

Yea..sorry about that..sounds like you got a real doozy on your hands.
-
Sorry to hear it but looks like you got yourself a pair of, hopefully not too expensive, normals.
Do you mind me asking what you paid for them?
Also that note really doesnt sound legit as Freakie Frog pointed out. I could make something better looking to be honest. At least use the right font for the NERD logo, i mean come on lol...
EDIT: ouch sorry to hear that. $300 for a $30 pair of snakes, that sucks.
Sounds like the guys a real scumbag!

I'm sorry to hear that.
I would contact NERD and let them know about this. I have a feeling that they may be able to help you out (I know if someone used my name to falsely sell a snake I would be furious)

x2 very true. Falsifying documents like he did is illegal. Make sure you keep that pic he sent you to show to NERD.

Could you please help me out? $300 is a lot of money to blow on normals. Guess I learned a lesson tho, only buying hets from reputable breeders for now on.

Well as Mike said it is illeagle so if push comes to shove you can take legal action.
As I said I would contact NERD about this. Make sure that the gaurentees that you got isn't from them (not saying I think it is, but having them say so will really help you if you have to take legal actions) I'm sure that they have dealt with this before since they are such a big name in the industry. They are your best bet at this point.
If they can't help you more than confirming that those snakes didn't come from them then you have 2 options. Try to deal with this guy alone... Or threaten to take legal action. Just that threat might be enough to get him talking again.

It sucks no doubt about it..and I know from now on you'll be gun shy but please know that there are people out there that do sell legit hets. Sorry this happened to you.

I emailed Andy I believe from the NERD website, asking if he could help me out. I'm waiting for his response.
But in the mean time the guy who sold me the snakes is claiming that it is his sons profile and not his that posted the pictures of the "het clowns" asking if they were clowns or not. The dude offered to fax me his credit card slip from when he purchased them, but I will not receive that until later this night.
I got my fingers crossed that this is just a HUGE misunderstanding and I didn't get screwed over on this deal. But I guess only time will tell. Both snakes have lots of weight to put on before I can try to prove them out.
-
Thanks for all the help guys, I really appreciate it. :(
-
Okay, the thing I still dont understand is, where are the pics?
I could buy a pair of hets from BHB, NERD or whomever and then sell someone a pair of my normals and claim them as the het that I bought.
I would never do that because I am not dead-beat trash and I value what people think of me.
I would print out ALL corospondance you have with this guy as well as the " please ID theis morph" post from this site and get it all lined up just incase you have to take legal action.;)
I hate the fact that business has to be handled through email or text just to have proof because most people dont honor their word anymore:mad:
I am sorry you more than likely got screwed and I hope he either makes it right OR you and NERD nail him good.
-
This throws up even more flags and I am woundering if the MODS might need to look into this guy??
Wanting to adopt normals
I wonder if these are where your "hets" came from:confused:

I think that this thread should also be taken into account:
http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...LEASE-READ****
I find it interesting that first he was selling his corns for BP's, then shortly after selling BP's for Leopard Geckos

Here it is. You had to delete the local host from the URL to get it to work.
http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...thon&p=1767008
I just went through all of the threads he started... Very telling

oh wow, and this is why i buy hets from big breeders or people i trust. hope you can get your money back.

again I am sorry but this goes out to not just you but everyone:
Ask about who you are thinking of doing business with!!!!!!
Those of us that are honest are open too;)
-
ar you sure they are 1.1?? did you pop or probe?
-
This is the conversation with him from today.
Me: Hey I got the snakes but I didnt get any paperwork.
Him: Ok do u have email or I can mail to same address, my kid boxed them up n said he marked the male, other than that is everything else okay?
Him: Do u want me to mail or fax I can do either, if my kid was home right now....damn just pisses me off.....
Me: yea my email is ........ please email me a scan of it
Him: sure enough sorry about that...
Me: It's not a problem, was just worried I got scammed for a minute, but both snakes are alive and well.
Him: I'm Glad the snakes r ok, did my kid do a good job on packing? Not looking to scam anyone just sent over paperwork let me know if you got it. Also I can mail it because theres a signature on it.
Me: Gotcha, you mailing it today? And I got your email thanks
Me: Wait the picture you sent me before is different than the one you sent me via email, the picture you sent me before had a huge diagonal NERD stamp over it...
Him: OK maybe it was too light I sent 2 I'll resend
Him: Ill mail today or tomorrow
..........some time passes by and I started looking up all his posts on here and what not
Me: Yo where exactly did you get the snakes from? Cause on the Nerd website it says the send photos for genetic certification, not just papers....
Him: New Hampshire Reptile Show
Me: And you purchased them directly from NERD at the show? I emailed them and I'm waiting reply..
Him: Yes there booth, I have a CC receipt
Me: Let me see the receipt or something dude, cause people are telling me that its a fake document, waiting on NERD to confirm this or not.
Him: Yes when I get back home....
Me: OKay but do you care to explain why you posted a thread on ball-pythons forum asking if the snakes (that I just purchased) were clowns or not? I am holding the snakes in my hand and looking at the pictures on the thread, they are the same.
Him: My son posted for clowns about markers he is 10 n worded things wrong , like het pieds have markers. Why would go through so much time offering to meet you in person
Him: If you dont like if want the snake let me know. I have been totally honest with you. I offered u to come to my house
Him: Do u really think i would answer u or give u advice on racks and ifo on breeding if i was looking to screw you?
Me: Idk dude thats a lot of cash to hand over to someone by trust, I'm looking into it tho, If I'm wrong I will have no problem apologizing
Him: I will be home around 10 an will cross out my CC info an send u receipt....i have no issue with it...I understand where your coming from, no hard feelings on my part

I did probe, I'm not entirely great at it (just starting out breeding) but from watching ralph davis's video on youtube I am confident to say that they are a 1.1 pair
-
I wish you luck BUT if he doesnt have photo documents from NERD then you know you got poked.
I really try to trust people but you already know what my gut is telling me to tell you.:weirdface
-
This is my biggest issue, even if they end up being NERD 100% Het Clowns...
This guy wanted to get out of corn snakes and into BP's then 2 months later is getting out of BP's and into lizards. These are animals not toys. He is either trying to flip them for cash or hasn't done proper research before he got the animals and found that he doesn't like them.
-
Also I'm really not buying that a 10 year old write all of those posts... And they are very clear of their intent.
Plus who in their right mind trusts a 10 year old to pack and ship a live animal?
I could be totally wrong about this but really?

That's exactly what I'm saying, and in the post it says his friend is selling them not his dad, this is either the worst liar I ever encountered or its a huge coincidence, but I highly doubt its a coincidence, it all adds up that he is trying to scam me, that's why his kid "forgot" to pack the paperwork.
This whole deal was done under the impression that I would be receiving legit paperwork from NERD to prove genetics, I wouldn't have done the deal otherwise.
-
I Don't mean to add anymore stress to you but, you should have asked for a fax or email of the papers and pictures of the snake before hand and contacted nerd to make sure they were all correct. So you have proof of what you were getting. I hope it all works out in the end, other wise you spent some money on some normals. Also the other reason I like to buy gets with another morph in them that way it is not a total loss. Keep us posted as to what happenes I would love to hear what they guy says and what nerd says.
Tom

Reading this thread from the beginning and walking through all the previous posts from the seller, my gut feeling is that you've been scammed.
Unless the seller decides you can actually reach out and touch him via legal action, you will most likely not see any of your money back. Honestly, it might end up costing you more than the money you've lost to try and recover it.
You should get all your correspondence together and post a thread on the BOI about this situation.

Re: NERD Genetic Certification?
A little late but here's a certificate I received when buying. I erased some of the key info so it couldn't be copied but so you have an idea what one might look like here it is:

I purchased through the website. Note this is NOT from NERD but another reputable breeder.
-
Oh wow that really sucks :( I have only purchased one het and received photo documentation that was signed by the breeder.
I hope it all works out for you, sounds fishy though :(
-
This guy is now ignoring all my texts to him, he did NOT send the CC receipt like he promised to do last night....scumbags theses days
-
Im convinced this guy is feeding you a line of bull. A 10 year old taking pics and posting those threads and shipping snakes...? BS, i have a stepbrother whose 9, maybe he could post pics and the threads but theres no way he would know how to ship an animal. Have you heard back from NERD yet? Try calling them and asking to speak to Kevin personally. This is a case about his reputation on the line, i would say thats pretty important. When he shipped the box to you there must be a return address on the label. I cant tell you what i would do if I knew where he lived, but you know what im getting at... ;)
-
Do you have any pics of the snakes? Het clowns definitely have a look to them.
-
Yes, here a pictures from a thread he "or his son" posted, it is the exact snakes I have in my possession.
And here are photos of the snakes that I just took, as you can see, exact match
http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m...Picture006.jpg

I would definitely take this matter to NERD and have them go about pressing charges for impersonating them by forging false documents. The BOI over on faunaclassifieds.com will help get IP and home addresses as well as background info on this Guy. They are super sleuths over there.
