Well, woke up Monday morning to my girlfriend at my door, and she brought me an early christmas present :)... Although I was expecting a new store bought cage, her and her dad built me one on a stand. And I must say, it looks awesome. It's made out of wood, and the top cage is all removable plexi-glass. The floor in the top cage is removable, and there is a small compartment for heating pads. I put Peanut in there, since she's the one who bought him for me... and plus I felt bad for leaving him in the little 10 gallon for so long... I haven't set it up quite the way I want it, but you can get an idea from this picture...

let me know what you think.

Thanks guys. As soon as I get a little extra cash I'm going to spruce it up a little. I want to create some sort of rear wall for the top cage, and get a few more decorations. I've mounted a red heat lamp and a blacklight on the stand also, looks excellent at night.

Perhaps Peanut will feel scared in such a big cage, and the big boy might feel cramped in a 30... Perhaps a switch is in order...

    BTW, how'd feeding go?

Peanut's still the king. He likes his cage, I can tell. And Bubba is fine, he's been in a 20 gallon for 4 years. Thanks for the compliments guys, I'll let her know.

fo sheezy. just had little peanut out for a stroll on the carpet, and he wouldn't get off me. then right as i was about to put him back, he gets 3 inches from my face and lets out a big ol' yawn. if it had been any snake but peanut i would've been a little nervous, but he's harmless.

I know what you mean about the nervous part. My daughter was holding Monty Joe after we had only had him for about 2 week's. He yawned in her face and If I wouldnt have been there to grab ahold of her arms, I think he would have been flying through the air. She thought she had been had. You should have seen her eye's, I have never seen eye's get so big..... And speaking of eye's, I found out that if you let your BP flick his tounge and hit your eye that it really smarts. Felt like I was hit with a dart.

lol. well i can imagine, esp. a big bp's tounge. it blows my mind how much bigger (longer AND thicker) bubba's tounge is than peanut's. i'd say nearly 5 times bigger. also it moves a little slower and he keeps it out longer, it's funny.

Even my mom thinks snake toungues are cute :) And man am I jealous... I can't wait to build a SNAKE PROOF cage that holds humidity... I am absolutely through with tanks once I get the time/money/stereo cabinet(?) for a custom cage. I'm using rubbermaids next year... I bet Peanut's havin' the time of his life in that thing! If the tank below it is a 30 gallon, what does the new cage come out to being? Measurements please? :)

there is no set gallon amount, of course... but the measurements are as follows
    40' long
    17' wide
    19' tall
i'm guessing at least 75 gallons.

oh and for comparison, the 30 gallon is as follows

    30' long
    1 foot wide
    1 foot tall
