    Please advise. Which "package"to buy?
Quick guys...I need some advice. We have 2 choices of ball python "packages"we can buy right now:

1.0 proven breeder fire and 0.1 breeder size unproven citrus pastel

Or 1.0 breeder size unproven Mojave visual orange ghost, 0.2 proven breeder 100% het OG, 0.1 not yet breedable 100% het OG, and 0.1 not yet breedable pastel 50% het OG. So 1 Mojave OG male and 4 het females, 2 breedable now, 2 not

The OG project is $200 more.

    So....which is gonna be a better choice.....fireflies or OG's, some Mojave OG's?

We trust the source so I'm not too worried about the hets not proving out.

    Thanks!

I would say the OG project. But go with what you want to make. You will have a lot more babies to sell with the OG project.

Re: Please advise. Which "package"to buy?
I just purchased a 2012 Firefly female for $850, shipped but with the ones you're looking at being a younger pair, you'd have quite a while before they would be breeding age and you could make any of your investment back. Were it me, I'd go with the second package (Mojave Orange Ghosts). You'll have no problems recouping your investment on that deal with your two breeder females and with the younger two, you could hang onto them or sell them off. I love my Firefly that I just bought but if my wife and my bank balance would allow for it, I'd absolutely add some hypo to the vanilla mojave male I have. Recessives are more work but if you have a visual male and a few het females, you're upping your odds considerably. That, and hypo mojaves are H-O-T!, lol! Ultimately it comes down to what you like; if you're just doing it for the money, I wouldn't plan on it holding your interest or being a long-term thing if they don't prove out. Pick what you like and go for it. Good luck, whatever you decide.

The OG project looks to be already on track. You just need to keep the little ones growing and get the larger ones doing the dirty.

Ghost projects are pretty cool IMO.

Yea that's what we were thinking. I just love fireflies so much lol and my bf and I are very indecisive so we have to ask. Also I know I've seen OG's go for pretty cheap so I wanted to make sure it would be a good purchase. Thanks

You could easily fund the purchase of a Firefly with the sale of the babies from your OG Mojave project, possibly even this year and definitely by next year if everyone stays on feed and nothing comes up. A single-gene orange ghost won't sell for much but with the mojave in there and a visual morph at that, you'd be doing fine if you produce a few of those. I'd say go with that package and use the funds from the sale of the offspring to get yourself a Firefly or whatever it is you're wanting to add. Ghost stuff is hot, like Slim said; you'll have no problem moving them, especially being two-gene animals. The orange ghosts might linger a bit before selling but a visual OG Mojave...sign me up! :gj:

    Oooo that is hot :)

The citrus pastel and the fire in the first package are breeding size now, the males proven but the female is not so we could most likely be making fireflies now

Your money and ultimately your choice but with an unproven female, breeding age or not versus a proven package group with 1.4...up to you but were it me, I'd pass on the unproven and go for the quite-a-bit-more-of-a-sure-thing package, lol!

I'd go with the hypo package...no brainer for me, you need to get what you want.

I could definitely go with the OG project! You could either keep all the females or sell a couple of them the help recoupe some of what you put into the project and still have 2 breedable girls.
Do you know what size all 4 of the females are?

Edit: Also with your current list of girls you have, you could add a Firefly male in the near future and produce some great combos that way.

Thanks everybody for your advice! We brought home the entire hypo project tonight. The male is GORGEOUS like no other. Even better the guy is going to cut us a deal on the fire/ pastel pair so I think we're going to pick those two up next week. The fire especially is awesome.

I'll try to get pics up soon, although I'm admittedly terrible at following through when I say that. Hmmm.....that 'mojypo' lol is so pretty I don't think i can NOT take pics so it shouldn't be too hard.

Congrats and can't wait to see some pics soon!
That's cool that they are going to give you a good deal on the other pair too.
If you don't mind me asking who did you get them from?

Re: Please advise. Which "package"to buy?
A local guy I've known for a while. He's not a huge breeder or anything but he had a few projects he was working on.

I'm not to sure if he would want me to name him online because it could get someone mad at him. Lol not trying to be vague, but he has another guy he works with who wanted to low-ball him very badly so he sold them to me instead and I'm not sure what he's telling him so he won't be mad at him. Not too sure who could be watching lol. *Looks around all shifty eyed*

He's actually getting out of balls because he doesn't want to compete with the other guy anymore. Screwy situation but worked out for me.:D He was also having some money troubles and was worried about feeding his collection in the future, which I can respect.

really depends on two things. 1 which you like the looks of the most. and 2. can you trust the seller that his hets are in fact het? if you can trust the seller then i'd go with the og group simply because its a larger group that can return on your investment quicker.
