Something I never wanted to post... Heartbroken and needing help.
Hey all, i just went to the reptile show this morning and i had decided to take a few with me to show off and have sexed. Anyways I had bagged all the bps I was taking and the family and I headed out. We got to the show at 10 and as i was unbagging to show a friend my het pied girl i noticed she was ot in the bag. Her tub was left open to air out, so i'm at a total loss where or how she escaped. I can swear I put her in the bag but it's painfully obvious i did not. I have searched the intire house, under every couch, cushion, fridgerator, stove, bed, i even cut my $500 lazyboys bottom out searching. I also cleaned and searched my truck... Any ideas where elce i could look? Please dont hate on me or tell me how stupid i am cuz i already know

Any warm place, I have found my friends snake hidden in her shoes! Check all your shoes behind the rack or cage, any tiny dark places just keep looking, she will show up when's the last time she ate?

Shes eats mice, last week and refused lastweek... Shes normally really lazy so i hope i find her soon, my stomach is in knots. I have checked everywhere, shoes included. This is by far the worst i have ever felt. My stomach dropped when i opened the bag i swear i put her in with my other big male and when she wasent there i flipped out...

Get a ten gallon tank and suspend a heat lamp over it. Put a f/t mouse in the tank and leave it overnite. She should get drawn out to it by the smell.
If she eats live i guess just do that except without the heatlamp.
If you have hardwood floors sprinkle flour all over so you can see her tracks.

You can also try plastic bags instead of flour if you have areas with carpet that you don't want to get flour on. Also check her tub, check all the tubs, and make sure she's not curled up on the heat tape if you use a rack. She'll be somewhere dark and warm and tight.

How awful! My own mojave male got out and I couldn't for the life of me figure out how. It's the worst feeling in the world when you can't find them, and I nearly spiraled into a fit of anxiety to the point where I couldn't focus on anything else. Best advice is take a very deep breath, try to be calm, and just keep looking. There are a ton of great tips, some posted here already, and I'd suggest doing a forum search for other lost snake threads to get more. I found my mojo boy after I noticed the cat messing around with something behind the couch, and when my boyfriend's snake (The Dude a.k.a. friggin Houdini) has gotten out I've always found him in the middle of the night, hearing him crawling over some balled up cellophane and paper (We're very light sleepers). Don't give up, and don't beat yourself up over it. Take it as a learning experience to double check whenever you're moving snakes around or getting them out.

Did you say you thought you put her in the same bag as the big male?. Ball pythons have been known to be cannabalistic. Just saying. I mean its very unlikely but it has happened before

was the bag loose or untyed? if so then she possible in the vechile if this is he case take it appart right down ot the carpet 9 and even that you might find her just make a note as you take screws out were they went ( makes reassembly easier) I had this happen and we know the snakes died inthe truck ( I was unable to take the carpet out )

Trust me, I think just about all of us have lost a snake a least once. I've only done it once so far but I'm sure I'll do it again some day. I was stupid and didn't shut one of the tubs and found my spider a shelf or two down about an hour after I realized what I had done. Just keep a close eye out for your snake anywhere there might be some sort of warmth. As long as he doesn't get outside you should find him. One thing you can do is put flour or plastic bags on the floor.

Oh, man. Lost snakes are the pits- so glad you found her! My brother is constantly losing his reti female. Dunno how he loses her, she's blind and is also a twelve foot snake. I imagine losing a little one is heart-wrenching! D:

Again, so glad you found your baby! ^_^

Check the TV, xbox power cord, hot water pipes, behind books, anywhere small and dark. I had a girl get out once and I found her in a tiny box that a thermostat came in the week before. She was just poking her head out to see what was going on! It sucks waiting for them to turn up. I've heard of people using duct tape. you can ball it up or lay it down near a feeder mouse or hotspot over night. Its a pain in the butt to get off the snake but with a bit of olive oil and some patients it will come right off.

Thanks again for all the help and well wishes. I found her the same day i lost.her, she was chillin out under my speaker box under my back bench seat. No harm done thank god. But now i gotta bring this to light.. A few responces up I was told to use Duct Tape... Now I understand the trying to help amd i thank you for that, but Duct Tape?? I've seen horror stories from basic clear Scotch tape, I'd hate to see Duct Tape used to capture a snake... Please correct me if i'm stepping out of line but that just seems like a horible idea.. just sayin

You're right, using tape of any kind is a Bad Idea. It's a horrible idea in an enclosure where you control the environment and can find the snake quickly if something does happen, but if the snake is escaped and gets stuck to tape (especially its head/neck) then it'll try and get away and then you'll have an injured, stressed, cold, escaped snake on your hands. Never ever use tape. Ever.

Worst advice in the history of advice :colbert:

All the olive oil in the world is not going to help your snake replace the scales it rips off it's body when it gets caught in the duct tape you put down.
