woo hoo im off for a vacation
I just picked up an amazon tree boa tonight.. It's a male, about 5'5" long adult.

The owner before me said he NEVER held him once since he got him (in January last year). That's pretty sad if ask me. Anyway, it's my first arboreal, and you have to start somewhere; considering I want breeding colonies of chondro's one day. He is actually VERY tame for never being held. :) I'm lovin' it.

Here are a few quick shots I took of him; sorry for the blurriness; these lttle guys don't like stayin' still!

Ok, I'll get this forum started! :P
How long will the amazon tree boa get? u said he's 5'5" and a adult, so is that all the larger he'll get?

Well, I was told he is an adult. I have also heard that they usually are inbetween 4-5 feet fully grown, but in captivity can reach up to 7 feet. ;) So who knows if he is done growing or not; considering I don't know his exact age. I guess we'll see.

are u gunna go for an all out aboreal cage???

He's definately a beaut :) I think imma get atleast one, probably two more BP's in the next couple months and have them for a while before i venture into other hyp's.

I'd be interested to know how long urs gets just so I have a reference. 4-8 feet I don't think would be THAT big of a deal to handle... but when u get to 12+' boa's that could take some serious space up.

For now he is in just a tall rubbermaid with 3 perches and paper towels. I'm going to do the whole display thing when I get my own place. ;) I'm kinda packed in around here nowadays...lol..

Like I just wrote elsewhere in a forum, you got some brass ones! ATB's are notoriously snappy, and you handle it after it hasn't been handled for a year! Good score! Keep us updated....I have been considering an arboreal for quite some time, but I just don't know that I have the time to devote to their care.

    pimp_n_python
ya they require alot of work i'll bet
they need really high hummidity right???

Kind of, yeah. He won't be too hard to take care of, with my brass ones, hehe....:D J/K! I've done research, and with enough time, it won't be difficult, at all.

    lol,
The first pet store I managed, there was this kid just walking around like nothing was going on, he was asking about fish so on and so forth, the whole time he had something squirming under his shirt, I answerd his questions for about fifteen minutes before he tried to make his grand escape, I nicely asked him as he starting turning toward the door if he could possible return the stolen ball python that was under his shirt, because if you take two more steps for the door, I'll throw you to the gators in the basement. The tactic worked well..lol
    Rusty
Oh ps, No Ball Pythons were harmed during that situation..lol

I dont think I would have the ball's (pun intended) to try to steal a snake from a pet store.....Heck it was hard enough just to sneak a piece of candy out of a store when i was young.

you guys are so funny, That poor kid couldn't even talk, he just kind of stumbled over to me and handed the lil bp over. I accually felt bad for the kid, he was THAT freiked out, well hopefully he will never steal again..lol
We would love to move, we're really starting to dislike CT, but money is so tight, we run the rescue out of our private home with no outside funding, hell we just moved in October from the next town over, It literrally took the whole month (lots o' cages)
    anyhow I'm just rambeling

Im glad you laughed at that Jennifer (about the cooks tree boa)....After I submitted that post I thought to myself, if she could get ahold of me right now she would probably slit my throat. I just hope no one here ever takes me to seriously. Except when im telling a story, then that is the truth, at least from the way I remember them.
