    Whoot!
Been waiting to see this for a loooong time...

I'm not on the forums nearly as much as I used to be, but for anyone who might remember we picked up this pair of 'superblack' sumatrans a few years back. Smoking hot, black all the way down to the belly, nice clean full reverse stripe on the dorsal. We paired them up a few years in a row but never once saw so much as a lock between them. Now I know for sure what I suspected... this is the 'male' ovulating after being paired and locking with another male in our collection! :8:

Forgive me for asking a dumb question, but do the Male Sumatrans go through ovulation and lock up with other Males? That is bizarre. are they hermaphroditic?
    Amazing looking animal!

Not at all hon. Hence the quotes around the word male. Obviously the reason he had not gotten anything from mating the supposed "pair" of superblacks is that they were both girls.

Now the snake once believed to be his male is obviously gravid, and definitely female!

You and me both! It's disappointing that I don't have a matching pair to breed together, but I'm hoping at least some of this clutch will turn out just as nice so I can keep a male for myself.

Oh wow!!!! Amazing! I want a blood python soooooooooo bad, but just don't have the space for a snake that big yet. I'm waiting until I have the perfect set up to get one. How much does your blood weigh? Aren't they like 40 pounds or something? :8::8:

Big water bowl from good old TSC. I can get you the actual brand and everything after I get home from work today if you want. They're the 'untippable' style, but do have two openings that the snakes could get their head under to tip if they really wanted to. That's the only I've picked up at this point, was doing a test run with it to see if it kept things a little drier but then decided to use it as a lay box. Kind of pricey too, I think they were $7-8.
