Soon time to upgrade, what phone? (Android)
    No interest in Iphones.

So what would be an upgrade for the wife's EVO 4g?

We can not get 4g in most of our areas so that option is not a must have but we both like the large touch screens and the processor speeds. With the new dual cores phones I doubt speed will be an issue.

We both have the sprint upgraded batteries and plan to buy them for new phones also.

I am rough on my phone (I've killed 3 EVO's in a year, or I got 3 defective ones...you decide)

I use my phone excessive amounts per day.

I want reliable and fast large touch screen. Super loud speakers would be a nice touch. $700 per phone is our budget.
    Sprint unlimited plan.

How do you like it so far?
I have the iphone 4 through verizon. Dont get me wrong its nice but i feel like there could be something out there more to my liking. Im pretty gentle on phone, never have even dropped my iphone in over 1.5 years of owning it lol. I really like the bigger screens of other phones, also having more than a 4mp camera would be nice. When october comes around and im due for an upgrade do you think i should go with something else or get the iphone 4s?

Mike, the samsung galaxy s3 should be coming out around that time I think. I have not done research on it but if its not out then get the s2 you cant go wrong with them they are AMAZING phones in my eyes!

I just got the Droid Razr and IT.IS.AMAZING!! Battery life is twice as long as an iPhone, the phone is LIGHTNING fast, and it's reinforced with Kevlar, along with an otter box it's damn near indestructible. Oh and the price just dropped down to 99$ last week :gj:

    waltah!
The new One X variant will be pretty fantastic. I have an unlocked Galaxy Nexus that I can't recommend enough and Sprint has that as well now. Stock ICS is tough to beat.

Wow thanks for all the input guys, i kinda feel bad hijacking the thread lol. But i have another question: how much do you all pay a month and what provider do you have?
Like i said i have the iphone 4 through verizon. Im on a family plan with my brother and its costing me $80 a month! That seems high to me. We have unlimited texting and like 700min amonth. We almost never use the minutes so idc about them but we only have a certain amount of data we can use too. I feel like if im paying almost $1K a year to verizon i should be able to use as much freaking data as i want! If you dont wanna say how much then feel free to PM me, ill keep it private. Im just curious bc on a college student budget thats alot of money haha!

nope, my S2 sat on the shelf with a $650 tag on it. I use my phone more than my TV, laptop, and DSLR. And a $700 price tag is a mere fraction of the price of all of those, it makes sense to me to invest on what I use most.

I shopped around and found it with renewal contract for $100 at Radio shack. I do not let price tags shy me away from a purchase. I use them as a starting point and then I shop, shop ,shop for better.

The S2. I'm still very new at the apps. My wife claims she is in love at first touch. Simple things are much different than my EVO and I will have to adapt. The keyboard is backwards to anything I have ever seen. I've ordered the large chinese batteries from ebay to give them a whirl at a $13 "upgrade" (we'll see how this goes). I'm actually very shocked how well the stock battery holds up. In good service areas+ wifi at home, I am getting over a day out of the stock battery(compare this to 13 hours with my Evo). I pulled my SD card from my Evo for my S2 since they have internal memory and no SD. But they have an SD slot.(S2) In good service areas, the phone is crazy fast. The antenna is sub Evo. If I couldn't get service(or very little) with the Evo, the S2 has no prayer or chance. The S2 enables wifi, 4g etc 100 times faster than my Evo. Power button is on side compared to on top with my Evo. Bypassing front screen requires a full side to side swipe which is awkward. The apps are weird compared to the Evo. Time will tell but I am confident the S2 will be up for the challenge.

shop plans and prices THEN shop phones.

We pay $144 for two phones (evo and s2) through sprint for unlimited data but have limited minutes...

Same plan for two 4s would be over $220. That is the cheapest plan/carrier in our area for our needs.

If super budget is your needs, i would shop the various pay as you go phones. Ranging from $35+ a month, they're hard to beat. Less speeds, less in the phone options but unlimited.....to each their own. But I've considered it myself.

I think i wanna try something different from the iphone 4s when i go. $144 sounds way better than $220 for 2 4s's lol.
I too use my phone for EVERYTHING, all day too. So having a strong battery is important. My iPhone 4 has a pretty good battery, now but id like it to last longer. By the time october rolls around there will probably be a whole new series of phones out for me to choose from haha. Im definetly gunna shop the plans first though like you said, thats a good idea.
