    Escape!!
OMG I hope you find him! Was he there before you left for school? Make sure to check along all of the walls in your room and near your room, and any dark spots.

    Good luck! Let us know!

my first snake used to magically get out and would always be under my mattress(i had chunks of plywood for a base and it would be curled up on a piece that hung down)

No luck yet... I made three or four sweeps around the permiter of my room, then decided since I've been meaning to clean and move furniture for about a month now, that it was as good a time as any. I'm about 3/4 of the way done with completely cleaning out every inch of my room... which means he cuold be in my sister's room. Last time I saw him was 4am... I should get back to searching, I'll post the whole story after I finish cleaning my room out.

    Normal?
I am a firm believer in the 10 foot rule. Concentrate your search within about ten feet of the cage he escaped from. My very unscientific research has revealed that 94.557% of the time, they are found within 10' of the cage! Ask BallKingdom! Good luck.

I dread the day when and if Monty Joe ever escape's.........I am hoping that the top that is on his tank is escape proof.....

    Hope you find him soon....

Uggghhh... still no luck. I've searched EVERYWHERE in this room and when I saw everywhere I mean it... I've moved every peice of furniture and cleaned under everything I could think of. My guess is he headed next door to my sister's room. I woke up at 4am and it was really really hot in my room, I have sliding doors that go out onto an upstairs deck off my room so I kind of fell out of bed and opened those to get some air in here. I noticed Vince cruising around his cage, then commenced to pass out. Assuming he wouldn't head for the freezing cold door to his right, he must have headed for the hallway on the left, in which case he must be in my sister's room unless anybody has ever had a snake go down stairs before... in which case I'm screwed...

I'm usually in total agreement with the ten foot rule, but his cage is on a shelf unit that's made of metal bars with no place to hide under it, it's wide open. It's on wheels and I moved it to another wall and looked all over the shelves but it looks like a hard place to find a hiding spot on...

did you check around and under your bed. That is usually a good hidding place.

I moved my bed, cleaned out everything that was underneath it, and stuck it all in a rubbermaid back under the bed so he couldnt hide in anything in there... bah, looks like I'm gonna have to play the waiting game, I can't tear my sister's room apart without her permission and she's in New York this week. Our upstairs only consists of my room, my sister's, and a bathroom which is tiny. Gr... now I'm just frustrated. Oh well, I'll keep you guys updated if anything turns up.

Oh yeah -- anybody ever have a ball go down a flight of stairs?? :|

Since we havent heard anything.....I presume he has yet to turn up? Have you checked to see if he was able to get up inside the mattress from underneath?

They ought to make something for snakes so if they escape or get lost you can push a button and they beep so you know where they are.

Yeah that'd be a nice invention... I've checked everywhere in my bedroom, all my furniture is completely rearranged now so I can only assume he's in my sister's room. I'm going to commence to tear it to peices this afternoon... if he gets hungry enough he may head for the bathroom, I found a bunch of mice living under the sink in the abandoned cabinet when I looked for him in there (ewwwww). No snake, but all kinds of mouse evidence...

How long did it take him to get there?? I'm absolutely terrifed because if Vince went down the stairs he could have easily gotten under the floor in the laundry room, whenever my pet rats escaped they'd go through the floor to the other side of the basement, they'd be loose for months!! I hate when this happens  I'm sure I'm overreacting though...

Bah, I have to do my laundry now, maybe he'll turn up in that, I checked yeserday but it's still sitting in the same spot... thanks for the support guys

    Stupid mouse... =)
it took almost 24 full hours before i found him
you might wanna try and leave a hide box out with a heat pad under it
or if he hasn't eat'n in a while then leave a dead mouse out for him
and then pull an all nighter!!
    thats what i would do

I'm still thinking he's in my sister's room somewhere... there are about a MILLION places for a small python to hide. She just got home from NY and has promised to go on a massive cleaning/searching spree with me tomorrow (she had a previous engagement for tonight). I'm gonna go sweep her bedroom...

Oh! And the hideboxes, that was my origonal plan , I was gonna turn the heat down upstairs and place heated hide boxes all over the place, but there's been something wrong with the heating upstairs for some time now and the temperature won't drop below 80... which I guess is still not the warmest that balls like it... if I don't find him tomorrow I'm going to Wal-Mart to get those hand warmers you use for skiing. This is getting to be quite an ordeal, I've never updated so many people this many times on an animal search before!

Okay, so it's been four days and still no sign of him. Our upstairs is fairly small and as soon as you enter the staircase the temperature drops significantly. Anybody think he would have gone down the stairs, or would he have stuck to the warmer temps upstairs?

THE NEW BOA PICS ARE HERE
I would think he would want to stay around near the heat, but if he is anything like any other critter, he will want to check out his new found freedom at least for a while.

Try not to panic, I'm sure he'll be found. I have had some escapes here over the years. A few years back I had a young BP get loose and she was gone for about 3 months!, Then low and behold she was crawling on the floor in the upstairs hallway. Scary thing is that she had eaten recently.. Lord only knows. But she is safe now, and your guy will be found soon.
    Thanks

I'm not too worried about him starving to death because I've seen mice in the bathroom, which is really nasty but at the same time Im hoping he'll turn up in there because there aren't a whole lot of places to hide. I'm leaving a rat out in my room tonight, but I can't leave one in my sister's room because she's back with her dog and there's no way in hell that dog will let us sleep if he's not in bed with his "mommy" and knowing him he'd either eat the rat or bring it into the bed. Bah... the search goes on...
