Piebald question...
I'm looking at getting a mid-white pied sometime this summer. I've done some searching around and found they range anywhere from $750-$1200. What determines the price? And what would be a good deal for something similar to this: http://royalconstrictordesigns.com/u...baf3d739d1.jpg

To me price, depends on amount of white and pattern!
I would say $750-$850 would be a fair price for him.

Price is determined by the market. I have seen piebald sell for 1000 dollars that I wouldn't give 600 for. For a pied like the one you have shown I would expect to pay around 700 for as a male and around 850-900 if it is a female.

It also depends on the seller. Sometimes a seller wants more than market value for a high-color, nicely-balanced pied like that. If they didn't say the price is "FIRM" in the advertisement, it's totally fair to offer them regular market value. Putting cash on the barrel helps entice them to take it a lower price.

Re: Piebald question...
Last year was my first year producing and selling pieds. I was a little surprised to see the strong demand for high white. I had seen posts by people saying they like the 50/50 or even low white but seems all the buyers wanted my highest whites and I was told I could have sold my really high one for much more. Also I think the price is higher for females. No idea what this year's price will be though but bet medium to low white males will be less than high white females.

I agree

I love 50/50 pieds. Looking to get one also this summer. I don't understand the different prices for the amount of white. When bred to diff morphs they produce highs or lows. But can you breed two lower whites and still produce high white pied?

Re: Piebald question...
So $750 for a mid-white male pied is a good deal, more money for females, and more money for high whites... (and less for less white, I'm assuming) Does this pretty much sum it up?
-
Size also reflects the price, older snake is more money. Go to a
Show you can sometimes talk them down a little, or they
Might throw in a het(opposite sex) in for free.

The amount of white commands the price. Low whites are around 5-6ish, mids from 650-1000, and highs 1000-1200. Females are always more. As far as the amount of white it really doesn't matter if he's low mid or high the offspring will be all of the above. Two low white pieds will yield pieds of all ranges. The gene only has an effect on eliminating and altering pattern, not the amount. The only one that effects the amount are any pieds that have any spider in them as all of them will be 90% or better.

I sold around 30 pieds last year.
males $475-750 from low/no-white to high white.
females $600-900 from low/no-white to high white.
I haven't seen $1000+ for a pied in 2 years. Prices are down and people are going to sit on them in this economy. The pied in the OP would be a nice $650-700 male or $800 female....at least on my table.

Re: Piebald question...
We got our first pied today at the Hamburg reptile show and she looks very similar to the pied in your picture, around 70% white, which is what normally determines the pied price. More white = more money. Keep in mind that low white pieds typically sell for 600$ or so at reptile shows and still can produce high white babies. No pied pattern is the same. Ours, that 70% white was 800$, granted a great deal. I would have gone lower white, but I'm shallow. :)

Just came home frome the steele city show. not a lot of pieds there but I agree with most of what eveyone else is saying. mid whites males are going for around $700 and females $800 to a thousand. I never whip out asking price. I always negotiate. I also leave about a 20% buffer in my prices when i sell just incase i run into some one like myself. good luck and happy herping
