which snake
hey guys i want to get another snake i think i am going to let my female ball python get bigger cause she is only 1 year old i was going to get a male yellow belly but i want to hold off and get something bigger and was looking at costal carpet python and columbian red tails and was wondering which you guys think i should get i am going to get it a lll reptile and both cost $99 + shipping i am kind of leaning towards the red tail let me know what you think

Re: which snake
actually i might get the red tail from florida herps

Don't have any carpets but think they're stunning, I'm a boa girl myself.
I have seen Colombian normal babies for less than $100 though online: I'd check kingsnake and fauna classifieds. You could probably find a nice hypo for $100-$200 even too.
(BTW Colombian's arn't "true" redtails: "true" redtails are BCC's while Colombians, Hogs, CAs, and Nics are BCIs) :gj:

Well it depends on what you want. Both can get to be fairly large. Females over 10ft and males 8ft +.
The only difference is carpets are much more slender and thin bodied. A 8 foot rtb will be alot thicker than a carpet. I love them both. The only reason i lean towards carpets is bc their colors are more appealing to me. But boas are really nice too :) Ive been toying around with the idea of getting my first "big" snake, but i cant quite gurantee ill have the room for an enclosure of the right size theyll need. The wait is killlllingggg me!!!

I have owned both red tails, and carpets. I enjoyed them both, but I really enjoy the boa's more.

Well you need the room and the money haha. Cages that size can run you like $400-$500. I dont really wanna spend that on a cage right now. Id rather buy another bp or two.

My boa's are more interactive. They seem to enjoy being out of their enclosures, and seem to tolerate being handled more. I just enjoy their personalities more.
