Doesn't look like a pastel even from the small pictures

..... It's a mojave, not a pastel. Apparently the big box stores have been getting them in.

I'm going to say Pastel. Not a mojave.
Look at that blushed out head in the first photo.

Here's the second picture on the PB account:

I don't see pastel nor mojave, but wow... I am not sure what it is. What are they asking for it? I'd probably jump on it.

I take back what I said before, I'd say it is a pastel

    • Yellow
    • Blushing
    • Flames
    • Head faded

Im seeing a decent pastel from the 2nd pic. :gj:
The first pic does make it look sorta mojoish though with the weird lighting lol

Lol I'm saying first pic mojave, second pastel. It goes to show how pics can be deceiving.

I still think both pictures look like pastels.
My pastel female (my avatar) has the mojo alien head pattern like the first picture.

50$ is the asking price... I went in to buy crickets and he/she just came in to day! I have been waiting to get my first BP for awhile but was waiting for a reptile show. I'm usually not one to buy from Petco but this guy throws a wrench in my choice!

for $50 buy it, pastel or Mojave that is a heck of a deal... male or female.

Heck, for $50 even if it's just a whacked out normal I'd buy it!!

All i see is a "mojave". I'm not seeing pastel at all. The "blushed out head" in the first pic to me looks like stuck shed reflecting light.

I would pick it up if i were you, especially for $50. If/ when you get it, post pics of the eyes, and the top of the head, and we'll be able to give you a better guess. Either way though you would have to prove out the super form (or at least that its genetic) for me to believe anything, mojave or pastel.

I wouldn't even hesitate on that! Get it now! haha

Not mojo OR pastel. To prove it out I'd pair it with a mojo.

I see pastel. $50 is a great price. If he just came in, I would run back and get him before they can starve him or do any other damage.

I'll agree, if I saw that for $50, I'd jump at it. Even if it is "just a normal", it's an awesome looking animal.

First thought is Mojo, looks almost like my M&M but I am not seeing pastel in the pics.

Our petcos here can carry some of the single gene morphs, or I should say have the option to order them. I have seen pins, pastels, spiders, and one yellow belly.

I'm thinking pastel but what ever it is, for $50 we wouldn't be having this conversation. This would be a new bp thread hands down. Good thing I'm not any where near you, you would've just missed out :).

I really wanna get him/her but I honestly wasn't planning on getting a BP till August... For supplies all I have is a extra 8x8 heat pad (brand new) and a 32 quart tub... They don't sell thermostats at our Petco and to get one I would have to wait 1-2 weeks... It is a gorgeous BP tho... Horrible timing :(

I think its more of a pastel if anything. If it were a mojave i would expect more "key holes."

Working at two different petcos that were able to order morphs, and pastels specifically, and knowing the price of the snake, I'm going with pastel.

I don't in any way think it looks like a mojave. If anything, it looks more like a lesser due to the yellows/beige/tans in the first picture, but I do NOT think it looks like it could be a lesser, simply that it looks more like a lesser than it does a mojave.

It is very likely a pastel. If you are uncertain, speak with the employees. If the employees don't know, see if their small animal department manager can call up their reptile vendor who provides the shipments to ask them where they get their snakes from, and if they can give specifics on that animal. They may not know the animal as an individual, or they would be able to tell you what "label" was on the animal that got shipped to Petco, and where it came from.

Honestly though, I think that would be too much work. I would bet it's a Pastel, knowing how it looks in the photos, as well as the types of animals/morphs that Petco is involved with at the moment.

Ya the Petco here isn't very reptile savvy... I've helped fix their Tortoise and Leopard Gecko care big time... I asked the manager today and he said they get all their reptiles from a wholesaler from Chicago and he said they are all sent to him as "Normal" ball pythons. He said it was highly unlikely that I would be able to find any info on it. I was also going to take more pictures but he was in his hide :(... So Everyone thinks Pastel?

Take some more pictures, see if they will let you take it out and hold it in some better light.

Also, sounds like the manager is a moron. I could probably find out who the vendor is for that store... what city is the store in?

Really??? It looks nothing like a lesser. And if you look at that fist pic and say it looks nothing like a mojave I don't know what to tell you, maybe look up more Mojave's. That is a Light mojave, actually a lot similar to mine from Royal constrictor designs.

I'll be the odd one out here, and say I'm not convinced it's not just a light normal. The glass reflections may be wrecking havoc with the colors.

If it's a mojave, or even a lesser, I think it's a pretty bad example of either morph, at least in the light that it is currently presented in. Not saying it isn't possible it could be a mojave, but if it is, the only reason to buy that snake is for the $50 pricetag, and not because of it's stunning perfection as an example of that morph.

Mojave Pastel Fancy "normal" if it was a female for $50 I would get it. It does look Mojaveish to me most likely a male though.

I still don't buy into the whole "poor example" of a morph thing. So much of the value of morphs is personal opinion. And personal opinion varies a lot. What you may consider a excellent example of a morph may look like complete garbage to another guy, and vice versa. To me it looks like a good little pick up other then the fact it's from a big box store.

I completely agree, so much of this hobby is subjective and opinion. And in my opinion, it does not look much like a mojave. It has similarities, but it is very far removed from what I consider to be a good looking mojave. Especially in the second picture, where it looks even less like a mojave.

I am not saying it isn't a nice looking snake in it's own right, but I don't buy that it is a mojave. For $50, it makes little difference what it is, if the snake by itself is a good looking, healthy animal. I would still like to see better/more pictures in different light and angles/distances, as it is silly to argue opinion over the only two pictures that make the snake look like two different animals in each.

True, I would be interested in seeing more pictures now since there has been so much back and forth on what it is.
