If youll have a new incubator by tomorrow, she will be fine with the eggs until then. You dont really have a choice. Just make sure the tub is at least 80% humidity. Ideal incubation temp is 88.

Your fine with a temp of 86-90 with her incubating. Keep RH up and eggs will be fine till they hatched.

What Incubator you getting that will be there tomorrow setup and ready. Most incubators takes days to dial in even ones that worked great previous season.

The pic of your egg tub is empty..make sure when you do a test run that your egg tub is set up with the proper water/substrate ratio. Once you have your new incubator and its at the desired temp, put in your completed egg tub. The incubator is gonna heat up the water/substrate in the egg tub and thats how you reach the desired temp in the egg tub. It takes time. Dont put the eggs in the tub until the temp inside the incubator AND tub is correct.

Use the broke one still, add flexwatt to it or any UTH you have and add thermostat to it. Id never use hovabator, i would leave eggs with the female before putting them in a hovabator

Personally, ive never heard anything good about exoterras. Before i lucked out and got a mini fridge inc, i was gonna use a hovabator and remove the built in wafer t-stat they come with and add my own. Another cheap(but iffy) suggestion, since time is short you could get a small cooler...add water and an aquarium heater and small shelf to place inside to hold egg tub. The aquarium heater will heat the water and inside of the tub creating an incubator.

To have mom incubate, even though shes doing the work...YOU have to make sure you provide her with the correct conditions and materials for a solid two months for her to properly incubate.

P.S.- These are just suggestions, im a first year breeder myself. Im just replating info ive come across here n there. Rich is MUCH more experienced.

Hes no longer using the Exoterra heating setup just the unit. He would be supplying his own heat and thermostat, which will work better than what was there originally that broke.

as long as its closed well so no air can come in affecting temps your fine. Give it few hours to settle in temps and your fine

Since this is only one clutch and small incubator dont worry about using a fan
  • 03-29-2012, 10:02 PM
    serpent fan
Fish heaters are cheap, and have temp dials that are pretty precise, since we need our water to be specific..
