    Hey those Pastels are sweet!

Could you tell us what line of Pastel they are and how much they weigh?

    Thanks everyone.

The pin was actually a CL find. Got an amazing deal on her. She is a bottomless pit and one of my favorites to photograph. She is always very cooperative.

The only pastel I know the lineage of is pastel male #1, the really light one. He was produced by Tim Kopenhofer @ Special K Reptiles and I was told that he is a Graziani line pastel. As far as weights and stuff, the female is a late 2011 and 257g, pastel male #1 is a 2010 about 750g and pastel male #2 is a 2009 a little over 1,500g.

Thanks. The reason I asked is because those pastels you have do not appear to have browned out like my BHB pastel did.

Verdict is still out on the female because she is still young, but the two males are definitely quality pastels in my opinion. They have held their color exceptionally well. You can see where they have browned out a bit on top, but not horribly like some do and you can instantly tell they are pastels. I've seen some pastels that are barely 6 months old and you would be hard pressed to distinguish from a normal. Eww!

Very true - those are quality.

In the future, I plan on acquiring a nice line of pastel that holds its color. I'm considering Nerd's lemon line, the Blonde line, or possibly Amir's citrus line if I can afford it.

I'm not sure if there are other lines out there or not which are known to hold that nice pastel yellow.

I've seen a lot of lemon pastels brown out bad. I wouldn't focus on a specific line. There are bad examples in every line. If you're getting a hatchling look for the brightest, most even yellows. I would avoid any orange/brown coloration and any ones where you can see the line where they are a different color on the top halves of their body. Those seem to brown out the worst. Keep in mind, all pastels will brown out to some degree.

Thanks for the advice. I had no idea that true lemon pastels could brown out badly.

All pastels can brown out. Some just do it more gracefully than others. There are good and bad in every line. Just remember, it could be worse...

I couldn't help but laugh at this poor pastel that the seller thought so highly of.
