So gross!!!!!
I just fed Jazmine a F/T rat. when she coiled on it it's intestines exploded all over my snake! I have never seen anything like this happen! *gag*
*MissMishyyy*

How did you thaw the rat out? That happens every now and then usually from the teeth slicing it open but still never fun lol
-
You probably overheated it when you warmed it up.
-
Just another reason i feed live lol
-
It happens from time to time. It's one reason why I never re-freeze a rat that has been refused. Re-freezing and re-thawing increase the chance of a spontaneous gut explosion.

Re: So gross!!!!!
This happened to me once when my male pastel was eating f/t mice. The mice that I bought had been refrozen and when my snake constricted the guts came flying out.

Re: So gross!!!!!
This happened to me once so far, talk about gross! But I was told it's probably because I unthawed it too quickly, so now I thaw them more slowly and so far not probs... but yeah gross!
-
That has happen to me as well! It's never fun having to clean up the mess after words.
-
Gross! Never happened to me, I always thaw slowly and in cool water for that reason. One time I had a rat's leg fall off during feeding. My snake went back and ate it afterward.
-
I've had that happen when I used to warmup hopper mice in hot water before I fed them. I would always burst them open drying them off before feeding them. It was so disgusting. :bleh: :puke:

Ughhh. I'm actually glad you shared this so that I can prevent it from happening as best I can!
-
I over heated it under the heat lamp. Had no idea that caused issues lol. I will thaw with warm water from now on!!!! I don't ever wanna see that again!!!!!!!! Lol

LOL i hate to admit it, but it has happened to me as well, first feeding of the rodentpro frozen, thawed in to hot of water, it looked like a horror movie in both the females cages. (smelled like one as well).

Haha. A rodent peeing or pooping little pellets while getting constricted is not comparable to when the rodent's insides being shoved out... It immediately STINKS, it's gross to see, and it leaves a gross bloody mess on the substrate and tub!
I posted a thread with a similar title to this
-WARNING: VERY GROSS-
http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...-%28GRAPHIC%29
Be careful heating up in warm water! If the water is too hot, it can also soften the thin belly skin and cause it to burst...
btw - I have a few extra tub slots in the rack I bought, so now I put the rodents in a ziplock bag, then put them in the tub near the heat tape before I go to work on feeding days. When I get back, they're always thawed out at the perfect temperature :gj:

Very true, never had this problem or fed live so I guess I wouldn't know haha

If heated too quickly it causes the gasses in the rodents stomach to expand, causing built up pressure and...explosions, gross. I've had it happen more than a few times, and it sucks. Impatience sucks, lol.
