Snickers is in need of new sized hides due to growth. recommendations?
I know BP's like their hides "snug" but Snickers is getting to be too large for her current hides.

Her hides look exactly like this(other than the color):
    http://www.allreptiles.ca/product_im...e%20Medium.jpg

She can still fit her entire coiled body inside them but just barely so I want to get her new hides soon.

I prefer to buy stuff like "hides" online because in general it's not only less expensive to buy that way but a wider variety of products is available than going to a pet store.

I want to get her plastic hides like this:

but I worry they are so light weight that she will just easily tip them all the time when crawling over and around them.

    Advice?

I highly recommend these hides sold by reptile basics, they are cheap, durable, and super easy to keep clean.

This picture shows the mini, small and medium sized hide boxes along with a 200 gram female Pastel BP. At the time of the picture she was using the small size.

Her is the site where you evan get them:

Here is my current set up with medium hides. I have only once had a BP tip one over, 99% of the time this isn't an issue.

The biggest advantage of these hides over the plastic ones in the picture on your post is the reptile basics ones have the entrance off-center. this allows the BP to hide better in the hide and feel more secure.

i second Aaron's suggestion. Many people have the same concern because they feel that the plastic is flimsy and easily moved. BP's on average try to avoid running into things and these hides from reptile basics do a great job and staying in place. They're also very economic with quick shipping. I give them 2 thumbs up :gj: :gj:

Neodesha Plastics makes the hides with the opening on the end...

RBI hides are simply the best hides I've ever used. Once you try them, you won't want to use anything else.

I have the same hides Aaron shows in the pics above. My bp's have never knocked them over and very rarely move them.

My girl must be some type of weirdo :rolleye2:, she will crawl into her Reptile Basics medium hide and telescope straight up pushing the hide around the cage to where ever she pleases.

I think it has all been said. Reptile Basics hides are the best. My snakes disappeared when I got them. I like the offset hole on these better than the ones with the hole in the end, provides more security. Never had one knocked over either. Got 6 balls using them.

That's one of the best features of an RBI hide. They're light weight enough that the snake can move it to where the snake wants it. Mine does that all the time.

    I also use these...

But when your snakes get over 3.000 gram, they're too small..

Where can you get some bigger?? They can't be higher than 4" though! There are some dark blue ones, but I don't know the name of the brand.. Thanks!

If the RBI and Neodesha hides are too tall, you can use the basic, plastic cat litter boxes. I think that is the blue ones that you are talking about. My Madagascar Ground Boa has one for a water bowl...

I like the reptile basics hides to use for babies, as they are easy to clean, but for adults I also find that they're too small.

I use large pieces of cork flat for my adults to hide in and under. My large females will wedge themselves around them/under them, and generally move them little as they seem content to hide where they are placed.

For those with display enclosures, Pet Tech also makes some Jumbo sized caves that are perfect for the larger adult balls. I have also seen customers use jumbo cork rounds, the large ZooMed Reptishelters, jumbo sized Mopani wood, and combinations of all of the above. :)

    Thanks everyone!

BTW....what should I do with Snickers' old hides now that I no longer need them?

I don't want to just "throw them away" when they are still perfectly fine.

Is there some reptile rescue org. in the Twin Cities that could make use of them and I could drop them off at when I'm in the area?

I say keep them. You can say "I have enough snakes" all you want, but it just isn't true and you will need them for a new hatchling one day. :D

Best hides on the market...:gj:! Pop Tart, cracker/cookie, and popcorn boxes are all very good as well. Best part about them is that they are FREE with the purchase of the food that is inside of them. The use of these as hides is also recycling at its best.
