I am a little offended.
I normally do not care for comments people make towards my snakes when they are not snake people themselves. BUT!
I posted pictures of my Axanthic female someplace else. (here are the pictures so i wont have to re-upload this)
Well, the comment's that bothered me is
"She doesn't look as grey as I expected" and "oh okay. Because she seemed to have some yellows (the browns) on her." Maybe i am just being a baby but i really thing she looks banging for a 350 gram Axanthic. :[
ahah am i being a baby?
-
Who cares? as long as you like the snake what else matters?
-
oops, I really need to stop browsing BP on my GF's laptop... this isn't Daybreaker its her boyfriend

Ahah! Shhh you are her. >.>
I don't know. For some reason it made me sad. :[ Though you are right.
-
I liked her the best when you posted that thread, as you can see from my comment lol. I agree with you, she still looks quite bangable to me!
As long as you like her, thats all that matters! :)

Re: I am a little offended.
She is a very pretty axanthic....for a ball python. I think one of the problems is 90% of the time the first axanthic a person sees is a corn, which is practically black and white (or grey and white). Then, whenever they hear axanthic, they expect a corns colors...
-
As far as I've seen, ALL lines of axanthic will develop some yellowing as they age, it's inevitable. Some people who are ignorant about axanthics will think of it as a fault even though it's not. Personally I think yours is one of the nicest looking axanthics I've seen.
-
the Axanthic looks tho nice i like its color.. and its your snake if you love it then what people say shudnt matter
-
I forgive you for posting it....If YOU want total absolution.., Please delete it...

Yeah i know they all tend to look more normal-ish when they age. Though i just get sad when people can not see what i see. As in, it does not look like a normal. It is like a work of art, sometimes you have to find the hidden pictures and details that make it most beautiful..
but thank you so very very much!!!

Ok so ive been wondering. What is reptile dysfunction and the red mark by robinbanks name?. Now to the topic at hand. Axanthics as a morph to me are a subtle more. I agree those that dont know, work with, or understanding axanthics just dont get it. Some of your best morphs for combos are the subtle morphs. I think its a great example of the axanthic. Remember, haters hate cause they dont understand the game

It means that the person had to many negative likes. Or something along those lines. Meaning he has been uber mean to people. So it is not a good thing.
Well thank you. I will try not to be offended. I was just like D:
It makes me sad. i work in a reptile shop, though most of the people i work with love lizards. so, i still feel alone with my snakes!
except when i am here :P
-
I like your snake! I was actually looking at buying an axanthic before I new anything about bp's at all just because I like them too!
-
The kewl thing about ball pythons is there's a color or pattern for everyone to like.
Personally I don't like any axanthics, they ruin the color of most morphs and most are just flat out ugly as adults.
I like axanthic clowns and a couple other ax combo's but not enough to breed or own any.
BUT just because I don't like them shouldn't mean you can't fully enjoy them :gj:
-
Wishing everyone would liked the same thing kinda defeats the purpose of breeding morphs anyway. Think of how many more homeless pets there'd be in this world if we all had the same taste.

X2.....I enjoy seeing what other people like or don't like. But I would never take offense to someone's opinion. If someone says your animal is the ugliest thing they have ever seen and they honestly believe that o well, as long as you like it that's all that matters. Tho the person is still a tool for having said it to you.

What was this "other site" where the comments were posted?
I have two general observations here, 1) From what I've seen, you have a good eye for picking very nice animals, and 2) You need to grow some self confidence and realize you have a good eye for picking very nice animals...the opinions of others are just that.
-
I always thought everyone was entitled to their own opinion??
I also agree tho that if all you are going to post/say is negative then it should be kept to yourself !!
And on the other hand if you are going to post something you should be able to handle any and all comments
I think your snake is beautiful, Is it a snake for me... No.... But if you appreciate it then that is all that matters !!
Its like Ralph Davis Lesser Platinum, its pretty but I think mine is nicer !

I have no self confidence. You are right. Though i think i took offense because even when i showed my sister the snake i got uber excited holding her. my sister was like, "is that the normal one?"
D: Ahah. Like i said, In the beginning. it must be me just being a baby and sad that none snake people cannot see the differences.
Another site where I post for photography junk.

I stand by my previous statement. You have shown that you have a good eye for picking very nice ball pythons. Just believe in it and let your confidence grow from there.

Even if every person you asked doesn't like a particular animal. It should not effect how you feel about it what so ever.
If every person in the world said Mila kunis is ugly would that stop me from thinking other wise? Hell no! You should take the same approach to your animals. If you think it's a good looking snake, then it is!

Ahah i am just way more sensitive to animals. I could care less if anyone called me ugly. But i get all sad and butthurt with my babies.
Though that gave me a laugh.
Y'all are right. Thank you! :] slime and rob

Re: I am a little offended.
The way I see it...when you go through life you're always going to get comments from both sides of an issue. You've gotten a lot of very sincere compliments on those snakes (and your taste in snakes in general) from some good people who know what they are talking about.
And you've gotten a few "meh" comments from folks who probably don't know an axanthic ball python from a boa constrictor.
Where you CHOOSE to focus your attentions will determine how pleasant your life can be. Focus on the positives and you CAN build that self confidence. Focus on the negatives and stay mired in self-doubt. It's up to you. I think you might be surprised at how quickly that self confidence can grow if you really do choose to focus on the right things.
-
IMO, yes you're being a baby.
If you post a picture, you're going to get opinions. Not all the opinions will agree it's the best snake ever. The comments didn't say "That's the ugliest axanthic ever!" It just said they thought it should be slightly different in their expectations.
It doesn't mean your snake is ugly, or that their opinion is correct, or that your snake isn't a spectacular example of a axanthic. If you like it, then why are you worried about what anyone else thinks? If you are that sensitive about one person not praising your snake to the nines, don't post any pictures.
I have a couple of the most awesome cinnamons ever. I've posted pics and had people say "Oh I prefer blah-blah instead of that type of cinny... Well I don't like that marking on a cinny..." and the like. It doesn't diminish my opinion of the snakes in the least.
Also, when you post a picture of a snake on a forum where it's breeders and keepers, you don't have that "rule of polite behavior" where if you 'can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all'. If you post a snake on somewhere like Facebook, then it's more likely that people will only post nice things(unless you have one of those morons who have to post "Kill it Ewww!"). But on a forum that deals with breeding, it's a bit more harsh, because people are considering it in the form of what traits it will pass on, not just "is it pretty and nice". So if someone really does think the color isn't Great!, they might post their opinion to balance all the "Awesome!" posts, because they do feel the color isn't what it could be(even if it's just a opinion).
Toughen up and enjoy those gorgeous snakes! You know it's a beautiful animal so have some confidence in your animals, if not in your own judgement! And post more pictures here!

I just want to tell you that I completely understand where you're coming from. I have issues with self-confidence too. It is a hard thing to overcome - much harder than most people think. But I also completely agree with everything Judy (JLC) has said. She really hit the nail on the head.
I'd like to add that I think it's harder to hear negative remarks about your pet than nearly anything else. Someone can say something about me and I'll blow it off. But if someone says something negative about my dogs or my snakes, well, look out! :D
I also agree that you have some very nice BPs there and you should most definitely be proud of them - no matter what anyone else says.
-
I know that, to me, my snakes are gorgeous :) And I'm proud to show them off, in pictures or in real life. Grant and I laugh in the face of the "Eurrrrgh!" comments we get all the time, because they don't belong to them :) They're ours and they're lovely :) Post your pictures, brush off any comments you don't like, but don't be under the impression that evvvvveryone is going to see your snake the way you do :)
P.s. They are beauties :)

D: Ahah. Like i said, In the beginning. it must be me just being a baby and sad that none snake people cannot see the differences.
Haha that happens all the time with subtle morphs =p. I showed my enchi and calico to some friends that came over, and they said "i can't see the difference between this one and the first one you showed me". That's fine by me, because I can tell the difference from a mile away :D. I feel good about being able to spot the subtleties. You should too =]. I have fun describing the little traits that make that morph. I was surprised when I had to explain the calico LOL. I personally think your axanthic is AWESOME! Everyone says VPI is the best line, but your TSK is seriously freakn SWEET! I'm definitely not just saying that.. His head is so silver, and he's holding his colors really well at over 300 grams! He's a possible het albino TOO! blah! Sweetness
I think all the photos you posted in that thread you linked are supreme examples of each :gj:.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not. But in case of not, it means he's a bad troll.
-
Its a very nice looking ball. I love the axanthic pieds though they look amazing. Doesnt mean your snake is ugly though lol
-
If I ever found myself in a situation where everyone agreed and supported me 100%, I'd assume that either a)they were lying to make me feel better, b) they didn't understand the situation and weren't making a good comparison, or c) they were sarcasticlly supporting me but truthfully mocking me.
Alternative opinions are the sign of genuine interest and thought. They're never a bad thing.

Re: I am a little offended.
I keep VPI but must admit that that is a very nice example of a TSK; she's gorgeous. I don't post pics of my adult male VPI because he always seems to look brown in photos even though he doesn't much in real life...
