Success!!!!!
Sooo last feeding was the first time i trie converting my 2 snakes to f/t.
My cinny boy took it but my normal girl didnt. The method i tried was to feed a small rat first, smaller than her usual meal, and then offering a rat to see if she'd take it. Well she didnt :/
But i waited 2 weeks to let her get extra hungry. So i thawed out the rat today and punched a hole in the skull and let some of the brain juice and blood leak out. Well she struck and tagged me, but then didnt seem to want it anymore bc she was pissed that she missed lol. (this was my fault bc the rat was only 85 degrees). So i was like oh well but for the heck of it i just set it in there and watched through the tub. She went over to it and licked it all over and finally started to eat it!!! So exciting!!!

Yea i use these plastic tongs that are like 12". And i usually wear a glove but i realized afterwards i was wearing it on the hand that wasnt offering the rat to her lol...
It wasnt my brightest moment lmfao :D

LOL, I used to have a pair of 24 inch hemo's that I could feed with from the next room over. I used them for one particular Pastel male that would come more than half his body length out of the tub if you whispered the word rat.

Congrats! They can definitely be stubborn snakes!

Nothin wrong with that!!
I currently use 12" tongs but I can tell that when my albino boa gets bigger I'm going to need something longer so I can get the heck out of her way! :D

This line is very poetic. So graphically detailed, I feel like I was there, and now have an emotional scar.
Haha.. but on a serious note congrats.

My apologies. I was so excited i was literally typing it as it was happening almost! What really happened was i made a small insiscion in the rats cranial cavity with my knife. And then i squeezed the brain juices and blood out lol

I would advise against cutting the belly. When your snake constricts, you're going to have guts everywhere.

I, too, would advise against cutting the belly. That's going to make a gigantic mess for you to clean up. And you really don't need a power drill to get through the skull, they're surprisingly soft. Really even a pencil would work to just poke a hole.

Their skulls are literally so thin. I barely put any pressure on it with a dinky little penknife and it slid right through. A power drill is what you'd need for a human skull lol. The rats skulls are like paper thin when theyre born and they arent much thicker as adults. You definetly do NOT wanna cut open the stomach. Your snake will pound it and when it constricts the guts will go everywhere lol

Gratz on the feeding! I just got my girl to take her first f/t and know how exciting it is.
