I wouldn't say boring, but Boas are more active/investigative

I like to say they're more manageable and easier to hold. Boas are more active and will try and go on their own usually.

I personally don't enjoy handling the majority of boas because lots of them are constantly on the move. I did have one a long time ago that would just sit on me, the others would not. That's what I like about BPs, I don't enjoy constantly trying to catch the reptile I'm handling. I much prefer calm slow moving snakes to active ones. Some people on the other hand don't like BPs for the very reason I love them, it's all personal preference.

...and I used to like calling lies "tricks".

Short answer, for me- Yes, they are more boring...when they are young especially(with there always being exceptions). My adult balls handle comparably to my boa(other than size)...none being shy, and all very tolerant of handling if not outright active and "personable".

A friend said it best, "ball pythons are the lap dogs of snakes." I see balls as eye candy, while carpets and boas are more interactive.

It really depends on the animal's temperament. As eel588 boas can be a very on the go type of snake compared a ball python, but then I have some ball pythons that are always on the go when I have them out.

I'm fully convinced my female hypo jungle boa is the best snake in the world and no one is going to be able to convince me otherwise. She's has the boa curiosity, but she's very very laid back about it. She will sit mostly on my shoulders with her head on top of mine for hours, but if I handle her and let her move through my fingers she will explore. My male hypo jungle boa is a little flighty and can be a bit much to handle when you first take him out which I think is more typical of a boa.

Some of my ball pythons are ridiculously boring to hold though. I'm fine with a them staying put, but I have some that never even unball when I hold them. That to me is boring and not something you will ever see a boa doing.

I dont have any boas but the ones i held do seem to be more active than balls. Right now i only have balls and i like handling them. Not too boring, not too active.

I don't find them boring. Just less active. My BP is my shoulder pillow and massager. My boas are my workout. :D

Depending on what you consider exciting I guess. Handling a ball compared to a viper would be pretty boring I imagine, but a ball to a boa...I can't say there would be a huge difference other than your life is tad more at risk depending on the species of boa. If you like that sort of thing then boas would be more exciting.

Honestly I really prefer boas. I had a wonderful albino male that would get himself all wrapped up around my arm and just chill out while I did computer stuff. The balls are always trying to find a place to hide.

Re: are balls boring to handle compared to boas?
As others have said, depends on the individual snake and their disposition at the time of handling. Sometimes my bps are a little restless when I take them out and other times they get themselves comfortable and then lay there and fall asleep. And I actually had my rainbow boa curl up on my hand for quite a while the other day, but that's a rare occurrence :P

Anyway, while I definitely prefer bps, I still really enjoy handling my rainbow boa and my colubrids because it is more of a challenge and allows me to interact with them more. But I certainly wouldn't call bps "boring." Sometimes it's nice to just have a snake chilling with you :)
