She's beautiful! Rainbows are such a good looking snakes. Probably the only thing I would consider keeping other than BPs.

    Thanks all!

I feel similarly, Slim... They have a lot of personality, too!

Satana he is just gorgeous! Haha, I'll live pretty close to Chicago in a few months. Maybe in a couple years we should introduce 'em. x]

Thinking about picking one of these up. Are they as easy to handle as BP are? I don't have any experience with snakes that are hard to handle. Also was wondering how much color they loose when they get older as I have seen full grown ones that get fairly dull.

They actually gain color as they get older, the duller ones you might have seen were probably columbian rainbow boas, they tend to be a duller color then the Brazilians.

They are a bit nippy as babies but with time they are known to stop. They can be mellow and easily handled but they usually won't be as chilled as BP.

As Satana said, they do actually develop more vivid coloration as they age.

It sort of depends on the snake, but this gal is pretty darn easy. At the shop I was told she was feisty and nippy, but she's settled in and is an absolute dream to handle for me. Really pleasant, actually!

Compared to a BP, they're more active and curious. Once they settle down a little they're really easy to handle, and love to be out and about with you. They all seem to feed pretty well, and they have boatloads of personality.

I'd say just pick one on the younger side if you purchase, because then you can work the hatchling out of that natural defensiveness your own way... And that's the way he/she will expect to be handled. :D
