loud poop/fart?

My young ball has always pooped when no one is around. He shed yesterday with no poo. Tonight I was trying to fall asleep when I heard what sounded like my grandpa letting loose. It scared me at first so I jumped up and flipped the light on quick to see the last bit. Just wondering if this anyone has had this happen and is it normal to be that loud? Thanks

I have heard several stories about this happening to individuals on this forum. Hopefully some of them can share their hilarious stories about how they were in the next room and were frightened by the explosive sound of their snake farting/pooping. :P

Yeah, I've heard a sound before. Wasn't that loud, but I believe they do indeed fart. :)

I wasn't that close. I didn't know if he was stuck in something or dying it was very startling.

If I recall correctly, someone posted a story a few months ago about sitting in the living room, watching TV loudly, when suddenly they heard, over the sound of the television, a very loud noise coming from their snake room. Upon further inspection, it turned out that the snake had farted and in the process, completely splattered the walls of her enclosure with feces. Evidently it was smelly, dirty, and hilarious! But also a little frightening. It was also referred to in the "You might be a ball python keeper..." thread as something to the effect of "hearing your snake make a sound like a sumo wrestler dropping a deuce". I found that to be quite funny. I wouldn't worry too much about it. :P

One of my girls in particular is prone to ripping ground shaking, glass shattering farts...the first time I ever heard it, I was so worried that I took her to the vet the next day. He was checking her out and palpated down her lower 1/3 a bit, and she busted one out and crapped all over his hand/arm. This was about 3 years ago...turns out she was fine, and to this day she continues to put on grand displays of gaseous splendor

I posted not to long ago about being woken up around 12 at night by my female normal farting and dropping a tremendous load. So yes, it is perfectly normal, frightening but normal, lol.

yes I've been pooped on three times (once by each BP) and they do fart pretty loudly sometimes. people at work don't believe me when I tell them.

I had my male Spinner 'release' while I was cleaning his enclosure a few weeks ago... Startled me that's for sure. :P

My pastel has woken me up 3 different nights doing this. Its a horrible sound ( fortunately no smell so far). The first time she did it, I was having to keep my bumblebee in the cage with her until I got my rack in. I was dead asleep when she let it rip. It literally sounded like she was killing my bumblebee and the bee was making some horrible death gurgle / scream for help. I jumped up and still half asleep started yelling at the cage to get her to stop... When I got over there and figured out what was going on, felt a little foolish for actually yelling "stop it" to a bp.... It didnt help that both of them were just laying there out of the hide trying to figure out wtf I was doing.

My burm let one go. I was holding him and I didn't hear anything, but this unholy smell of death came wafting up around me. I could have sworn he pooped right no me, but after thoroughly checking the area, I realized it was just a fart. Awesome.

My blood did that the other day, he lifted about the lower third of his body in an arch, then proceeded to let out the loudest fart I have ever heard, louder than any human I have heard. Startled me at first then I couldn't stop laughing lol

I was sitting on my bed on my computer when I suddenly hear the loudest puke/fart sound. I jump up and looking in my snake cage and see a trail of poop splatter. My snake looked like it was puking cause his mouth was wide open but the sound was def coming for his butt. I jumped on google as soon as I can and found this. My python is looks perfectly fine and I think its just natural once in awhile to let one rip.

It cracks me up every time I hear it....

It's 2 a.m. I'm in an extremely deep sleep, dreaming freely. Out of the quiet darkness comes a sound like non other I have ever heard. It was a horribly strained, gargling, splattering, shooting sound. I really cannot describe it properly. I shot up in bed, instantly aware that it had come from the snake rack in my room. I fought to just go back to sleep but the longer I lay there the more aware I became. The more aware I became the more I realized that I really should check on my snakes. I had convinced myself in that 2 a.m. stupor that one of my snakes had surely exploded. Logic does not come in to play at that time of night, so I stumble out of bed and turn on the light. I start from the top and slowly begin to open tubs, bracing for the impact of seeing one of my beloved animals upside down and dead. Boy, I'm telling you that there's nothing like suspense in the middle of the night. In the third tub down I found it. My sweet, little Spider girl, Luna, lying peacefully looking very content while behind her lay the culprit. Poop. She had shot poop from the front of her tub all the way to the back of it and it splattered EVERYWHERE! Well I'm certainly glad she feels better! Good grief! I'm going to buy that girl some Beano, for sure! I should probably buy myself some earplugs, too. This is ridiculous!

Balls Are Noisy sometimes.. I had "pleasure" to hear that sound on few occasions...

Back in the days when i have stuck shed on my normal female in FL i soak her in bath tub and she give me bubbles :8:

But most surprising was hearing my little striped house snake making a noise at level of ball python :O He messed up corner of cage badly as well :rofl:

My ball python did this a couple days ago as well. It was the weirdest sound I've ever heard in my entire life...sounded like a huge fart mixed with a gargly/puking sound. Really kind of horrifying, but kinda funny at the same time. I checked out her hide afterwards and found a ginormous fresh turd...must have felt great to let that one go lol. I also hopped on google as quickly as I could, and it seems perfectly normal. She seems really healthy so I'm not going to worry about it.

Ive been scared by snake farts before. They are surprisingly loud

i guess they just keep it in and build up pressure for a few days, and then.... kaboom.

Yupp my ball has done this haha she actually woke me up with it. The "log" if you will, was actually so big it tore her cloaca a little and there was a little blood. But she's all good now :)

Has anyone else experienced waking up to the sound of a baby elephant screech coming from inside their tank??? It wasn't gurgled or anything, just sounded like a baby elephant bellowing

All I can picture is one of those long balloons you can make balloon animals with, flying around the room. Pththththththth... :zerb:

I had never had this happen until last night. My 2000g female spider let one rip at 3am and almost made me splatter my tub! It was so lout that it woke me up from deep sleep, being confused and disoriented I first checked my phone and then TV to see if they were the culprit. With no other logical explanations I came to the conclusion that it had to be aliens in my room. After laying there for a bit freaking myself out I decided to check the snakes tubs. Low and behold when I got to the Spider's (Carla) I noticed a very fresh, very smelly, and very splattery present waiting for me... and her smiling up at me :D

I had no idea snakes could fart, especially with such decibel ringing power, so I put a reminder in my phone to search it in the morning (I was still dazed and confused being 3am and didn't want to forget) and found this thread!

I'm so relieved it wasn't actually aliens...

I am waiting to hear a snake fart still. I've had Magnus paint his walls before, but he's not let one rip in my presence. This will be the peak of my snake keeper career, that and eggs. (Funny how we're all so proud of what comes out of our snakes' butts.)

When this happens to me the next day I always see poop smeared on the side of the tub. Really disgusting

It happened to me one time while my wife and I were watching a horror movie, scared the bejesus out of both of us.

Ive had a few that farted. They are loud on long. They sound worse than human farts. Ive also had a snake pee and fart while i was try to pop him. It actually scared me. It reminded me of a water fountain thats at the parks but with brown water

Lol! So was watching tv and i heard what sounded like one of the cats throwing up. Looking around the living room i notice my bp girl slithering around her enclosure. To my shock, she pull the granpaw release. Complete with wall splattering. Smelt horrible, but was the funniest thing ive encountered.
