I use binder clips to keep the lids on snapping and locking ones, some people use luggage straps as well.

What kind of snake and what size is it at now?

A lot of the newer sterilite and rubbermaid tubs have locking lids with latches. So you can get one of those for your next tub.

What size is your ball now?

They sure do and they are not secure.
I had several get out of locking lid tubs before designing a cheapo bookshelf that held the lids from being opened.
Losing a $1000 snake out of a 34qt sterilite locking lid tub is quite aggravating, I don't suggest trusting them...

Put your tubs in a rack system, and you will not have to worry about them escaping as long as you remember to push the tubs in all the way.

Yikes. Thanks for the heads up. I don't have experience with them on snakes, but I use them as maternity rat bins. Works great for rats. Haven't had any escapes.

    I currently use a 110qt Sterilite for my 5 foot female. Dimensions are 35 x 19 x 13.

I should probably get some of those clips. She's never even tried to escape from this tub that I know of, though, so I think I'm in good shape at least for the time being.

You can get the luggage straps at places like Wal-Mart and Target in the luggage section. The binder clips keep the lid and the lip of the tub pinched together, to close up any gaps between the two. The straps keep the snakes from pushing up the lids in the center, where they can be flimsier. The straps may not be needed on smaller tubs, but for larger tubs, I definitely recommend them. I use them on all of my tubs, whether they are really needed or not. It's just an extra layer or security that gives me a little more peace of mind...:gj:

ya gotta help me figure out securing the lids. i stood at target today for an hour saying no way i can secure this lid easily and have easy access to snakey. i put luggage straps on them and still the corners come up. there has to be a better way than straps or clips...
