Is this a pastel?
A guy wants to trade me this pastel for feeder rodents. I wanted people opinion if this is a pastel. Since I am not as good at identifying a pastel yet. Thanks.

Doesn't look like it to me.
Here is a thread that goes over how to ID Pastels:

If it is a pastel, it is a super low quality one.
This is one of my pastels for reference:

I see pastel, but a thin pastel. He needs some groceries!
-
I'll say yes, but is it just me or it seem really skinny in the second pic?
-
He is suppose to be 4 years old and proven. If its a pastel and needs some food in it I don't mind that. I can put some weight on him. I just want to make sure it's a pastel.

My worry would be that he may be skinny for a reason other than mis feeding.

I don't see pastel, I see an over exposed photo. See if you can get on in better lighting with no flash.

Regardless of the lighting, it's still gonna be a pastel...and I'd say that the first pic is probably a very fair representation.

I really don't see a pastel either, and lighting does matter

Re: Is this a pastel?
I think pastel, I can see the color in his eyes in first picture. But my first thoughts were, that he looks very skinny. I might be concerned about his health.

Ok, I should have said that lighting will not change the fact that it's a pastel, regardless of what you're seeing. Just like any other morph, pastels can greatly vary, but it won't change what it is.

........ Older browned out pastel?

Looks like a pastel to me. But like people have said, he looks thin. If you do get him make sure to quarantine him.
-
I would want a photo that isn't overexposed, and shows his head, because it's awfully dark for a pastel (the head that is).
The body looks like it could be a pastel, but I'd want a good head shot, personally.
It is the end of the breeding season, so I expect any male that's been breeding, or that's been in a rack with females and off feed, to be rather thin, but I'd also recommend quarantining him plenty.

I see a really browned out pastel.
-
I see a very brown pastel.
-
Looks like your average adult pastel. My first male pastel looked just like that in photos with bad lighting.
Very skinny though.

That's what I'm seeing too.

Re: Is this a pastel?
Yes, it's an underweight pastel.
-
Re: Is this a pastel?
I'll just on the old, skinny pastel train.
-
Re: Is this a pastel?
100% Pastel. A little thin and browned out, but a Pastel nonetheless!
-
Thats definetly a pastel. Just a browned out one. In the first pic you can see the eye is green.

Re: Is this a pastel?
Looks like a really poor quality pastel. Is it a male? If so you might want to pass. Decent male pastels are a dime a dozen now.
