Do you think this is her ovy or just building? She's been hanging out on her cool side for a couple weeks and refused my male this weekend.

I'm sure you have heard this many times, but Ovy looks like your female just ate a very large rat. It last for about 24 hours or so, then it's gone. :snake:

So probably just building then... gah, I'm so ready to see an ovy and get some eggs!! I check on her at least 3xs a day to see if I can catch her ovulating and I think I have tricked myself into seeing her as bigger or lighter than she normally is to make myself see glow or ovy....

*Edit* - sorry it wont let me edit my last post.

I actually decided to check on my girls and just caught this girl ovulating. Its just the very beginning, but you can already see shes swelling like a balloon. See the sudden curve in her spine? The substrate shes on is completely flat, its the swelling from the ovy thats causing the arch.

You can't be 100% just by the way she is laying. Males will also lay on their sides from time to time. Usually if the female is gravid her rear half will be belly up. Good luck.

She actually looks gravid if you ask me(already Ovy'd). She just looks to fat in the lower half. I could be wrong though, it could just be the way she is laying in the pic. If you know how to palpate you could try and do that and see if you feel eggs. They will feel just like eggs not small like follicles. Just don't squeeze hard.

Shes super fat in her lower half. I'll see if I can get better pics today I've tried to feel eggs, but since it's my first time I'm not quite sure how hard to press.

If you are not feeling short hard bumps when doing it and you are feeling soft elongated lumps, those are eggs.

Definitely not an ovy, you'll know when you see one. I'd say she's building and that is definitely a good sign that things are coming along.

The OP said she was on the cold side, wouldn't that mean building and not gravid yet?

Then I would have to agree gravid :) I'm guessing you just missed it by a few days, watch for her pre lay shed...

If her shed on the 5th was her prelay shed then she would have ovyd 2 weeks before that. If it was her prelay, the eggs will be here around 30 days after that (may 5th) or so. Some people have reported waiting up to 60 days for eggs after prelay shed. Make sure your incubator is warmed up :)

Don't forget to share pics of the clutch :D

If she shed on the 5th then you and I will be in the egg club on the same day(I had a prelay shed on the 5th also :P)! If she shed on the 5th and looks that fat, she is definitely gravid already. Watch for inverted positions and all that awesome stuff.
