Wrong, I'm the midget working in Wonkas sweat shop making candy for minimum wage!
-
OK, I decided to post a pic of me. It is not the best, but hey, its a pic and will do until I get another one.

This was taken a couple of years ago after we went and watched "Fellowship of the Ring" on Christmas Eve. The costume is my usual Renaissance Faire costume, though in the past couple of years I've made some changes, most notably a new hat.
In normal life, I typically keep my hair pulled back, but for the wizard costume I let it go a bit wild.
I figure the next time I get dressed up in the wizard outfit, I need to see if I can get Phil to wrap around the staff for a photo pose.
-
OK, you asked for it
Cool digs! The snake on a staff idea is sweet! Is all that facial hair yours, or is some of it for the costume?
-
I was think, "Hey that dude looks like Gandalf!" when I saw that!
Awsome Hoomi

Here's me with my favorite retic, Pasha:

I saw that second pic and got a little weirded out, until I read the text! :)
-
LOL!!! All in good fun. Big Lou & Ralph Davis are a couple of my favorite herp guys, so we always clown around when we see each other at shows.

The facial hair is all mine. My 19 year old son has never seen me without a beard, though up until about 8 or 9 years ago, I kept the beard trimmed shorter.
I write for an online comics, gaming, and collector "magazine", and went out to cover the San Diego Comic Convention for them this year. On Saturday of the Con, I went in my wizard costume, and I don't think I have EVER been photographed so many times in one day, even on my wedding day. One of the best was the shot taken with a gal who had a great Frodo costume. :)
-
Being a hardcore superman fan, we might just get along :) But I've never bought a comic book :)
I've never really read LOTR, I got them in my room collecting dust. Too long, instead I'll just stick to the books under 200 pages :)
-
First time I tried reading LOTR, I bogged down maybe a fourth of the way through the first book. The second time, I got past the foundational stuff in the first part, and from then on out, the story just keeps you on a roller coaster ride to the end, at which point, I was almost yelling, "WAIT!!! IT CAN'T END!!! WHAT HAPPENS NEXT???"
The movies are probably as good an adapation of the books as anyone is likely to be able to make on film. They had to leave a lot of things out, but they still managed to keep fairly well to the essence of the story (with some exceptions occasionally pointed out by LOTR purists).
I find reading to be one of life's great pleasures.

Here is my mug shot!

I fish off the west coast and its the same thing-too many people trying to regulate something they have never come down to the ocean to look at first hand-just sit in their office 1000 miles from the ocean and try to decide how to manage the fisheries.
Everyones first question for me is -"Oh,your a fisherman, hows that going?Do you ever catch anything?Or think im some juggernaught that catches and kills everything that comes near the boat.
Most of our fisheries are very well managed, and we actually had the best year ever as far as return # go for a few different fisheries-despite what they report on the news(happy news doesnt get ratings)
um,i could go on,but ,sorry im getting of topic.
-
I remember on the news there was this "hippie" looking envirnmentalist telling them about fish populations and what not. The fisherman got in his face and said something along the lines of "Do you have boat payments, do you fish for a living, ect" It was clear he'd never even gone on a fishing boat. It was awsome, no fights tho. Like when they banned it in Canada or whatnot.
-
ya seems the public view fishermen as crazy fish killers, but its in our best interest to make sure theres going to be lots for the next year.Personaly i think theres more damage done by sports fishing cause they dont have the resources to follow every single guy out there and make sure hes not keeping stuff he shouldnt be.The amount of stuff a commercial fleet catches seems like alot cause it happens all in a few days or weeks, but sports fishing as a whole takes alot(possibly more)just spreads it out over a longer time.
I know for some of the licences to even be able to fish its alot of money(1 my boss has is over 600,000)then theres the yearly fees-usually a few thousand, and equipment-again$$$,and the boat, crew, food and supplies-for when your gone for weeks or months at a time.....on and on..... so why would someone after spending all this money want to go and kill off all the fish so that they are stuck with a huge debt?I just dont get why people think someone would want to do that.
-
because they didn't think of it like that
-
-
Hey, hey..........I feel affended.......They use to call me a hippie back in the day....Not all hippies were protester's and bad people. 8)
-
who said protesters were bad people???
and just because someone calls you a hippi doesn't make it so
do you concider yourself a hippi?
my intention was not to offend
-
Nor did i take it that way.....It was all in jest.....Didnt mean to get your feathers all riled up.
-
If you read my post's Im nothing more than a layed back ole man....I never get to serious, life is to short to get serious.
-
"life is to short to get serious."
amen.
-
"He's an old Hippie, and he don't know what to do
Should he hang onto the old? Should he grab onto the new?
He's an old Hippie, and his life is sure a bust.
He don't want to hurt nobody, he's just trying real hard to adjust!"
:)
-
oh iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii geeeeeeeeeeeeet it!! LOL
my feathers weren't riled they were as calm as an ocean. it takes alot to get me mad because like you said "life is too short"
I thought you were seriouly offended and i just wanted to tell you that wasn't my intention of my post.
its hard to tell when people are kidding on forums sometimes because you can't really hear tone of voice or see facial expressions.....................if that makes any sense????
has anyone ever experienced a misunderstanding like what i'm talking about??
oh and by the way hoomi hehe great poem!
make it up yourself?
-
Those are lyric's from a song........
Though I have never considered myself as a hippie, other's back in the 60's and 70's would have and some did. But now I guess you can use other lyric's........
"If you dont like the way im living, just leave this long haired country boy alone".
Though my hair has not been what i consider long since 1979.
<PEACE>
-
I just cut my hair it was pretty long just past my chin
as soon as i cut it i wanted it back...........and still do!
I shaved it almost right bald
-
Heck I wish I was bald.....At least then i would have more area for some more tattoo's.
-
haha your all out of space are ya
I only have 7 right now
but want many more
the problem is i can't really decide what i want
all my tats represent significant events that have happened in my life
-
Yeah, im pretty much out of space other then my back. Been getting them since I joined the Army in 1978. I have a theme also, but on the part that all but one of my tat's are critter's. Mostly snake's and Eagle's. The one that is not a critter is a memorial to Dale Earnhardt Sr.
-
Old people are people too!
Happens to me all the time, I'm an extremely joking person. So I often say the wrong thing and get mistaken for being serious...
-
Ironhead called it. It's an old song, and one that I can't take credit for. Had I remembered who wrote it, I would have credited it appropriately when I quoted it.
:D
-
oohh oohh tattoos! My other passion! Since this is the post a pic of yourself thread....I'll post the link to my page, pics of me and my tatts.

Hoomi.......it was the Bellamy Brothers............
Sass......Great tat's......I dont have a single picture of any of mine. If I can get some (without my face in it, dont want Americas Most Wanted finding me. hahaha) i will post them.
-
Screw that hippie music, I listen to rap. Tupac, 50 cent, all the good stuff. Not pop rap, which blows. Gangsta rap is the best.
Being from Maine I think I can really relate to their lyrics. I too grew up in the ghettos, because Maine is full of them. Every day was rough, I could get shot on my way to the library. The police always harrass me, Randy..... Being a true gangsta, I can relate. Life is tough, thug life.
Just playin, and I really do listen to rap.
-
I love the Bellamy Brothers! Everybody thinks I'm crazy for liking stuff like that, but I listen to alot of stuff. I'm on the worst Kris Kristofferson kick this week... classic rock is the greatest and Alice Cooper is my hero! And oh yeah, I keep meaning to post a pic of myself on this thing but I keep being too lazy to dig out my camera... maybe I'll do that later tonight, lol.
-
Rap????? Wow!! That is my least favorite. All of my kid's listen to crap, er....i mean rap. Nearly causes me to go postal!! Southern and Classical Rock here. Bellamy Brothers are cool. They grew up just a few miles from where i grew up in Florida.
-
Well, after a whole bunch of procrastinating, here I am --
https://ball-pythons.net/albums/Other/meandeleanor.jpg
Just me and Eleanor... I still can't believe how big she is compared to Vince!
And this is my other love in life... I'm a(n old) car freak. If it's big, old, preferably has two doors and is made in the USA I'll probably fall in love with it! This is my '85 Lincoln Mark VII... not too old a car by my standards but I love the thing anyway, so full of 80's digital technology!
https://ball-pythons.net/albums/Othe...0335.sized.jpg
Here's a back view... she's got some weird/rare dealer option that gave her the padded roof and covered contintental kit. (This was when I put on a new bumper and hadn't sprayed the rubber black yet)
https://ball-pythons.net/albums/Other/P1010273.jpg
Sorry BK, I have to agree with Ironhead, rap is my least favorite. I like pretty much everything but rap and pop or whatever, lol. Ah well, I'm open to all kinds of stuff.
For those of you who like to read long posts (I know I do!) here's a list of the critters that live at my house -
1.1 ball pythons
1.3 leos
1.0 siamese cat... fattest damn cat you'll ever see
1.0 Maine coon cat
1.0 boxer
a whole bunch of gold fish, and five Siamese Fighters
Anyway, enough of me (:
Just for fun, I think we should all post a pic of our computer desks sometime... I think it's cool to see where people go online... or maybe I'm just weird? :D
