    Outraged!!
As i was hanging out in Petsmart talking with a friend. She told me that a customer had come home to a full grown ball python in her driveway not knowing what to do she call the local animal control (baaaaad idea) When they arrived they said there wasn't anything they could do and they KILLED IT right in front of them. I need not tell you how pissed i am right now!! I swear that place is awful!! So apprently there was someone who not being able to take care of their pets let them go. DUMB IDEA!! Apparently the animal control was afraid it might eat some small dogs or cats. RIDICULOUS!! Ok end of vent....still pissed though!!

That is terrible but unfortunately sounds about right. People need to be educated about these animals... especially if they work for animal control (or pet stores )

How sad!! A BP couldn't eat a dog or cat and would never be a public threat. That's just silly. They should have taken it in and/or found a home for it instead. :(

It could have been a escaped pet too, no way to tell for sure.

That animal control should be publicly scourged for killing a harmless pet when they culd easily have found a home for it.

Thank you all. I am so heart broken over the loss of this poor baby. That's why i have decided to apply for a job as an animal control officer in my county! With my knowledge that i have aquired about snakes i think i can be beneficial to the snakes that get needlessly slaughtered "for the good of humanity" Complete and total BS if you ask me!

Yet another reason I dislike the large box store petstores. My current rescue was taken in at a mom and pop store who called me to see if I would like the snake. Needless to say I now have another snake great looking normal female :)
Sorry to hear about what happened to the other snake but our animal control here will kill just about anything they take in it seems. One of the officers was telling me they killed all the black dogs one week because they were running out of room:mad:

My AC has a pet Burm they have had for YEARS :) I bailed a 6 foot common boa from there for ten bucks. They dont know alot, but dont euth reptiles. I would think if the owner of the snake is found, that there could be charges filed...

Well it was my friend at the petstore that told me she was outraged about it as well. She is one of the few people at that store that rescues the pets and REFUSES to kill them. She's even told me of a few surrenders that need homes now.Not all pet stores are bad.

In all honesty its not just reptiles that animal control will make quick judgement to put down.. We took in a Very pregnant Very underweight dog who they were going to put down because they didn't have enough space for the puppies.. and it probly didnt help that she might have been the ugliest cute thing I have ever seen.. she looked like a gargoyle with fur (all 5 puppies and the mom found homes BTW :P)..

Unless a rescue is called then many animals won't stand a chance especially in government run facilities. Snakes are not a popular item at the pound and they take up space.. therefore its easier to just not care for or keep them.

There have been a lot of reports lately of peoples family pets getting put down even though they had called and claimed them.

I'd be pissed if an accidental escape of one of my balls ended that way, my animals are microchiped for a reason, so they can be returned if found...wish people would groe half a brain and think before they speak or act.
