I got three of THIS KIND. I like them but haven't had a chance to salt test them to see how far off they are. They seem to be pretty good though.

Acurite brand like what retiredjedi said. It gives hot/cool side and humidity.

Where do you have the probe for your Herpstat located? If it's on your heat tape(or between your UTH and aquarium) and your thermometer probe is in your tub(or aquarium) they should be reading different temps.
In my racks I have to have my Herpstat set at 97 degrees to give me the 90 degree hot spot I need in the tubs.

I have the Bios Weather thermometers from Walmart, they are $7.97 here. They read room temp as well as the probe temp, and also display humidity and the time. They have Max/Min settings as well.

I'll try and find a link.

I have never found accurites to be any better than any other cheap one. Finding a half way decent thermometer is difficult. My suggestion is never trust 1 or 2 but check a few (3-5) against each other and use the ones that are the same. With this in mind I use ones like this...

    http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Digital-LCD-F...ht_2419wt_1141

I bought 20 or so and ended up keeping 12 that were with in 1 degree of each other (and correct temp) The other 8 I gave away.

    Humidity I use these... http://www.amazon.com/Analog-Hygrome...2152840&sr=8-1

There are copies of this around but at not much cost difference so I tend to buy this particular one. What to look for is a metal face card NOT paper, and a calibration screw. They are very tough and tolerant of dirt and junk that digital units are not. (I fished one out of a water bowl after being fully submerged and after drying out and a salt test I found it to be still in 5% RH for accuracy.) Make sure that it is not a hair spring type but a bi metal the hair ones are far too sensitive to dirt.

The only issues I have ever had is the magnetic disk sucks and the metal disk it connects to is not well glued. I usually replace the magnet and re-glue the disk. Or just tack it inside the tub with a dap of hot melt.
