    Citrus Flames
I'm sure most everyone knows a little bit about the Citrus story, but you might not know about Flames. Citrus is Amir's line of pastel, Flame is his line of fire. There has been considerable debate about the Citrus project and what Citrus can or can't do, and if there is perhaps another gene involved with the Citrus. I believe there is another gene involved. My evidence for that is my Citrus G-Stripes. About half of them are much brighter and have a different look. But for now that is enough about the Citrus G-Stripes, this post is about the Citrus Flames. I'll do the Stripe story at another time. Flame is Amir's line of Fire. It produces a black eye lucy with a tendency to have some yellow blotches, it also has a little more reduced pattern than a fire. I have several Citrus Flames and also what I believe is a Citrus Flame Bee. The CF Bee has a sibling paradox Queen Bee. There were multiple sires of the clutch, a Citrus Flame and a pastel butter. The dam was a spider. If one is a Citrus Flame Bee and the other is a Queen Bee, I hit all of the odds on both snakes. I'll find out more this year by breeding the Citrus Flame male to more spiders. I don't know why the Citrus Flames are so bright and the Citrus Flame Bee is so pale, I like both looks but can't explain the difference.

This is a good comparison shot.
If you are in Tinley this weekend you can view a couple of the Citrus Flames in person, feel free to contact me for details. If you have made it this far, thanks for reading, I hope you enjoy the pictures.

The Bee in the second last pic on the right with the paradoxical black markings is really cool!! And the other fire bee is so reduced its amazing

And those fireflys look amazing. The white heads are so pronounced.

Absolutely gorgeous animals! The whole lot of 'em!

I'm curious though.....what is it about the Bee that makes you think it's CF-Bee instead of a queen bee? Is it the reduced pattern? She looks like a spectacular queen bee to me.

Either way though, can't deny the gorgeousness!

At first I thought they were both queen bees, and they might be. But I have hatched a lot of queen bees, they all look similar to #2. The reduced pattern and the difference in the black coloring, it is more subtle in pictures. With luck I will learn a little more this year, I'm using the male citrus flame on several spiders and bees.
    Thanks for the comments...
