2011 Hatchling Size: Poll
Hey this is my first year with ball pythons, and most of my snakes are 2011 hatchlings. I was curious the range of how fast different hatchlings grow at, so I wanted to make a poll to get an idea.
If you have more than one hatchling, it would be most accurate if you based your poll answer on the average size of your 2011 babies. If you entered in the poll, I also wouldnt mind knowing how many hatchlings are in which size category? It definitely doesnt have to be exact numbers, but ball parks so I can get an idea of what typical hatchlings sizes are. Im wondering how big the biggest 2011 girl is right now ?
Post pictures of the little buggers if you feel inclined to, as well!

I have a Feb 2011 that is well over 700 grams and a Dec 2011 that is about 160 grams. The average in between that is 250-400 grams for the rest of them.
This is really dependent on WHEN they were born in 2011, as well as feeding, genetics, etc...

Re: 2011 Hatchling Size: Poll
Mine are in the 200-300 range. I have three, 2011 hold-backs and two others we are selling. Every other year I fed hatchlings on a 5 day schedule and this year I went to 7 days but I'm not doing that anymore. They should be in the 4-500 range by now (or more) with a 5 day feeding schedule.
-
My early 2011's are around 350-550 grams. Younger ones are 150-300 grams.
-
Mine average somewhere between 4-500. I have an early(Feburary) 2011 female that is 930 grams, then a few Mar-May babies that are in the 5-700 gram range and some late 2011's that are still under 200 grams.

Re: 2011 Hatchling Size: Poll
My spider female hatched at the end of May and is over 900g.:banana::banana:
Add: She was on a 4/5 day schedule with weanling rats until she hit 500g, then went to 1 small rat every 7 days since then. Never misses a meal; I'm just hoping she doesn't hit the dreaded 1000g wall that I always hear about!

300 grams for a December 2011 baby is a very good weight.
As far as my bigger 2011 girl she was on a 5 day schedule until between 5-600 grams and is now on a 7 day schedule and she hasn't refused a single meal until a couple weeks ago.

Genetics and feeding plays role a lot.
My 2 hold back females from June and July 2011 are 750 and 768g

Thanks for the feedback everyone :gj:
Mine are a little smaller than all of yours, I switched them to a 7 day schedule as soon as they hit 250 grams, also got two picky eaters. Im not in a hurry at all, but do you think these girls will be ready to breed in two years? Has anyone tried feeding a hatchling on a 7 day schedule until breeding size and if so, how long did it take?
Heres what Ive got:
June 2011 - Hypo 325 grams
July 2011 - Black Pastel 475 grams
Aug 2011 - Lesser 330 grams
Sept 2011 - Pastave 230 grams
-
i only have 1 that hatched in december weighing in around 200

Re: 2011 Hatchling Size: Poll
Wow, my little guy is only 106g ... Hatched Nov. 28, 2011. This seems absolutely tiny compared to a lot of the weights you guys are listing! I've only had him for two weeks, he's eaten 3 times, first two were hopper mice, just switched to rat pups.
Hopefully he starts putting on weight with rat pups every 5 days :hmm:

The rats should make a difference.
