It's a Ninja Rack!!!
My boyfriend had this built for me as a Christmas present. I just got it 2 weeks ago. Haha. Better late than never right?
It was designed to blend in with the rest of my furniture from unwanted eyes. Also it keeps my ferrets out from causing trouble. (Those Misfits!!!)
It can take either back or belly flexwatt.

That looks awesome, but what about airflow?
-
looks very well built!. Do you keep the door open for light to come in, or close it for asthetic purposes?

Thanks!
I keep the door open almost all the time. The door only closes if the ferrets are out or if there are guests over. (You know...some people aren't serpent savvy). It's definitely a must with the ferrets as they know how to open drawers.
Also, there are holes drilled into the back for air and cables to run through on each shelf level.

That's cool.. Man if I had one of those I could keep my snakes in the living room. :D

Re: It's a Ninja Rack!!!
Damn, this makes me want to trade in my wife for a man skilled in carpentry.......ok maybe not.

That is an awesome looking rack :gj:
Your boyfriend should seriously look into selling them, especially for renters. There's countless threads on here about apartment dwellers' predicaments and need for camouflaged racks.
Ferrets cause nothing but trouble :taz: but gotta love them anyways

very nice ninja! If any one has a rack in the living room and needs to kinda hide whats on those shelves just get a mini blind, have cut to width, and mount to front of unit. It still allows tons of airflow. Also, it helps keep some heat in.

Are those 28qt or 32qt tubs?
It looks awesome. Your bf should def consider making these. Or at the very least put an ad on craigslist or something for local sales.

No need for light with snakes, THey be fine in 100% total darkness for life.
As long as the cabinet has at least 20% airflow throughout the cages your fine. Just have to check periodically for pee/poops since the moisture will build up faster.
I was going to do this with my hatchling racks, but use a plexiglass door with Vent holes on it, for easy viewing.

Way to go Boyfriend!! It looks great friend!
Btw... everything w the family has finally calmed down, so u are more then welcome to come by anytime. Production has been up lately so that's a plus! Oh, and I got me a new pup as well and she would love to meet u. Lol. Come by anytime, hope all is well and once again great ninja rack!

Darkness for life? Sorry, that's just mean. They have perfectly good eyes, they aren't cave-dwelling animals. Ball pythons do like to go outside on occasion, and even enjoy the sun (they pick South-facing burrows, preferentially).

If ya say so:rolleyes:

Re: It's a Ninja Rack!!!
I wanted to build something like that with the door having a 4-5 inch gap from rack and tubs with a mounted radiant heat panel to control ambient temps and flexxwatt in back for hot spot. That way I have a rack for quarantines that can go in any room and still have control of ambient temps;)

Uh...Did you two read the thread?
I stated in my second post that the door stays open at all times unless my ferrets are out or if there are guests over (I don't have very serpent savvy friends and the ferrets know how to open drawers).
And when the door is open, how different is it from other racks?

Yeah. I'll probably ask for some rats in a week or two.
I'll let you know soon. :)

Awesome rack! And very sneaky :) My bf is also building me my own 28qt rack (he doesn't use the 28 qts himself) and it's to be a late gift for my birthday. Me thinks we have some pretty good bfs :gj:
-
I like it but I think it would look and function even better if it had a "wicker" insert in the front door.:gj:
It does look great though.:gj:

Thank you!
I'm sure the wicker insert will look great too!
Although, the door was designed to match the furniture style I had in the room. :)

I have to agree with this statement!

Very nicely done. personally i am not to worried about those not serpent savvy, if they do not like my animals, kids, or the way my house is, they know right where the door is.

Thank you!
I understand. I feel the same way. However, the door prevents my ferrets from getting into touble. Plus one of my best friends has a serious case of snake phobia. She can't even look at pictures or rubber toy snakes. I'd rather not give her a heart attack if she happened to get a glance of one of my snakes.
