    Is my snake okay?
My boyfriends snakes eating habits hasnt lately been so good. I'm just wondering if her eating is something to be worried about.

    Here it is

Nov. 27 ate a small rat
Dec. 04 ate a small rat
Dec. 05 weighted in at 784 grams
Dec. 09 ate a medium rat
Dec. 14 ate a medium rat
Dec. 18 ate a medium rat
Dec. 22 ate a medium rat
Dec. 28 rejected a medium rat
Jan. 01 weighed in at 952 grams (keep in mind she didn't eat for about 10 days so this weight can be empty)
Jan. 05 rejected a medium rat
Jan. 13 ate a medium rat
Jan. 18 ate a medium rat
Jan. 25 ate a medium rat
Feb. 02 weighed in at 952 grams (Now really sure why she didn't gain... she ate 3 times before this weight)
Feb. 04 rejected a medium rat
Feb. 12 rejected a medium rat
Feb. 19 rejected a medium rat
Feb. 27 rejected a medium rat
Mar. 01 weighed in at 908 grams

So only lost 44 grams in 2 months. But I still want you opinions. Thanks

My male pastel refused for 8 weeks straight, then took a small mouse one week and is now refusing again. He's lost at least 100 grams...I wouldn't worry, they do this often this time of year.

In the wild I'm pretty sure they are like a gator or croc... in captivity gators and crocs will not be fed during the off season,(Winter Months)

Think about what your snake does all day.... sleep move a little and sleep some more !

Correct me if I am wrong but I see this as normal.

Seems pretty normal to me. I don't think you are doing bad if she is eating a medium rat every 5 days or so. My adult male will eat a medium rat every 2 weeks or so. They can go off feed this time if year. They just like to stress us out, they will survive though.

It's just so odd when you have two normals side by side and one eats like a pig and the other refuses every week for 5-6 weeks straight... and they both have the same temps and the same hide system... woman are so difficult to understand sometimes... X/

Imo and in my experince when a femae bp hits the 900-1000gr mark they shut off and stop feeding, my female drove me nuts. She hit 950+gr and decided to go off feed for 3months. Nov-Feb. Dropped almost 100gr then decided to eat mice.. Its a pain in the rear, but normal

Yea pretty much as soon as she hit 950g she just wasn't interested in food at all. Pretty exciting when she actually attacked her food and ate :)

Yeah my wife cried when our girl finally ate... Shes pounding down 2lg mice every 4days, sherefuses rats still but shes real head shy with rats for some reason even if I prekill.. But as long as shes gaining weight and healthy i'll buy mice...lol

We have 9 ball pythons so far and for the last 2 months only 3 will eat a week. Usually the same three, but occasionally they will switch. I was really happy last week because 4 ate...lol darn balls!

Haha I know we had one month where almost all 14 of our snakes refused to eat. Now they seem to be coming back to wanting to eat. I can't wait until they all get to breeding size :)

I guess I am lucky. Both of mine eat like champs. They both attack the sm rats with vengence. It is normal though for balls to be finiky at times especially in winter months. My Boa's on the other hand is a completely different story.

It is quite likely that it is just 'that time of the year' but medium rats are quite large for a 900 gm snake. At least what I call (my supplier calls) medium. (medium rats 95-190gm) I would suggest try a small again (55-95gm) the mediums maybe too large.

Breeding season ... I have several girls who stopped feeding around Xmas. Did same thing last year, but suddenly in late May, their appetite picks up and they become voracious eaters. Mother Nature ... Would not worry. Good luck. :)
