    Positive thoughts please?
I'm not a religious person by any means but I do believe in positive thinking begetting positive outcome.

I found out yesterday that I have a fairly decent sized cyst on my left ovary and that it has caused torsion out twisting of my fallopian tube.

I have an appointment today with my dr to find out what we're going to do about it since he wanted me to come in for that talk. Everything I've read online (i know, don't read medical online) has said that for cysts that have twisted, you basically have to have surgery. I've only "been under" once and that was to have a wisdom tooth cut out so I'm super nervous about even the possibility.

That said, if you also believe in positive thought, good vibes, etc; could you push a few out there for me today?

I had a cysts before, they hurt like hell. Never had one twist. I would think that would be a relatively easy procedure. Hope all goes well!

My sister actually had surgery for the exact same thing and it really was not a big deal. It was a super quick and easy procedure, and she recovered quickly. So don't be too worried! We will keep you in our thoughts!

Good luck! Hopefully you don't react badly to any medications you receive during or after surgery.

If it makes you feel better...My 8 year old just had her appendix removed and she did very well. You will be in a lot less pain after it is removed. Not to impose religion, but, if you had faith it would be a lot easier to deal with thing like this;). Just my 2 cents.

My wife has had cysts on her ovaries and she has surgery on them numerous times. The surgery that she always had was minimally intrusive and it was always outpatient surgery. She always seemed to be sore only for a couple of days after the surgery and then she felt great! Hope everything goes well for you!

Good vibes headed your way from Florida! Sounds like from what everyone else is saying that its an easy peasy procedure. It will probably be even easier for a tough girl who owns snakes!

I am a RN and have seen folks get this surgery tons of times. It is almost always laproscopic (2-3 very small incisions) and you are back to normal within a week or two. Often the final decision on whether to just remove the cyst or remove the ovary will be made by the surgeon when he sees what is going on. And that may not even be an issue depending on the size seen on ultrasound. In the grand scheme, it is not really an issue since you have 2 of them and fertility remain intact with one gone.

My ex had a cyst removed and wished she had the ovary removed because the cysts returned. So that is something to keep in mind.

Best advice I can give you is keep a positive outlook and get up and moving ASAP after the surgery (Do not run a marathon, but do not firmly plant on the couch either). It promotes healing and prevents complications.

Oh I have faith, just not in a deity.

I have faith that I have an excellent dr and a well trained, very educated team that backs him and they will take care of everything they possibly can.

I'm 27 with no kids yet; and yes, if they have to remove the ovary it can make it harder to conceive.

I have a family member who has had a similar procedure done. She went in for surgery early morning and was able to make it home for lunch with no problem. It is not an uncommon procedure. Because of that, doctors these days have a pretty good idea of what they are doing... You will be in and out of there like it was no big thing!

    Chin up my KCMO friend!

It should be something like a laparoscopy surgery. It shouldn't be too awful, but you'll be sore of course. It's a pretty simple procedure that won't leave you with big scars. I've been to several docs for my endometriosis which is more or less tissue scaring on the uterus and ovaries. For me the surgery isn't worth it because it will just keep coming back and I have chosen not to go through with surgery until I start trying to get pregnant which at this point it might not even be possible. I've ended up in the ER a few times for it and put on morphine to ease the pain, it really sucks, so I know how bad you must feel! It is horrendous pain.

You can still have children with one ovary, don't stress about it too much.

Good luck with the surgery and recovery, I'm sure you'll be fine! Don't worry. Sounds like you have a great doctor and lots of support.

I know it's not quite the same, but I have PCOS so I know about pesky cysts. What do those cysts think they're doing in there, anyway? That's private.

I'm a little late to the support group, but sending you thoughts for a speedy recovery! Get well soon!

(And if you had laparoscopic surgery, thoughts of not getting your belly button glued shut for 3 weeks by the dermabond/superglue like I did! LOL Ok, it is a funny story now, but boy was I a grumpy camper!)

It was laparoscopic but he didn't use any dermabond at all, just subdermal stitching. I have a nice and creepy incision inside my bellybutton and 3 dashes along my bikini line. I'm pretty sore but the meds are keeping the pain at bay for now!!

Now, tell me more about this glued shut bellybutton...

I had my gall bladder removed, not really because it needed to be yet, but that's a longer story. I only a few muscle stitches at my belly button and then all the skin ports were dermabonded... but the surgeon put so much on that it dripped into and sealed off my belly button! It held a bit of my stomach pinched together and I couldn't completely straighten up w/o it tugging if you can imagine what that'd look like. (And it stung a bit.)

I went two weeks later for my check up and this old, really nice, surgeon guy cracked up so hard he turned red. Apparently, it is not uncommon to get glue into the belly button, but he's never had it hold for longer than a week. He thought it was hysterical that at two weeks I was sealed shut... it took another week before it was loose enough for me to pry it open! (I had to ask for help too! LOL) On the other hand you can't see any scar near my belly button, but the rest have become little white annoying bumps... I guess next time I'll ask for the "pinch and glue" treatment all over! :weirdface

Hope you are getting better every day!
