Ball python stuck!!!
I don't know what to do, my bp is stuck inside the gap on his water dish. I dont know if i should pull hard or gently, but when I try and get him out he makes a strange whistling noise and sometimes hisses. PLEASE HELP
-
I would just leave it alone for a little bit and see if he comes out himself.
-
would it be possible to get a picture of what is going on? I'm having a hard time picturing this

are you sure that your snake is actually stuck? He looks like he has found a nice place to hide. He will probably hold onto it for dear life and will be a pain to get out. I would just leave him and see if he comes out in a day or so.

Looks comfy :gj: He looks like he's probably just hiding and as said, is holding on for dear life!!

Re: Ball python stuck!!!
not to minimize your concern but part of his body is already free in this picture...
-
OK thank you I was pretty sure he was stuck because the picture does look like it has a larger gap than in person i'm just not sure but I will give him time and see if he emerges. If he actually is still stuck in a couple of days, what should I do?

You'd be amazed what these guys can squeeze into. I highly doubt he's stuck. I think if he's not acting normally once it gets close to feeding time then I'd worry. I bet if you let a live hopper mouse loose in his enclosure he'd find a way out quick ;)

Yes but the other side of the opening is narrower and his tail and upper body are what appear to be stuck.

be gentile but firm and pull him out. you would be surprised what they can cram themselves into

if you had an opening in your tank that big he get out i promise you. just dont want you to worry too much...

I don't think he's stuck at all, and I think you will have a hard time pulling him out! If you try to pull him out, he will resist and you could end up hurting him.
Once he comes out, you may want to get a new water dish that doesn't have this problem. He will outgrow it eventually, but once they find a new place to hide, they remember. I had to stop using carpet substrate because mine learned she could crawl under it and I had to take everything out of the tank to get to her. It's not like it's a BAD thing, it's just a bloody nuisance when they hide where we don't want them to.

Re: Ball python stuck!!!
My Baloo crawled into my laptop desk one time and I remember panicking because there was no way to get her out. I wound up placing the thing in her vivarium and waiting for the worst but 4 days later she came out and wandered around as if nothing had happened. I'll tell you this much if I had just left her alone it wouldn't have taken her 4 days but I kept trying to get her to come out. Just saying...

Re: Ball python stuck!!!
I learned to leave them be... when he does come out cover it with tape. But you can also leave it watch one of my older videos of my first BP stuck in a tight spot
Remember this was my first snake and I haven't done any research and didn't know better but I learned since then just to leave them alone she was in a tight holding spot, which is what they like

I wouldn't recommend using tape inside an enclosure. I doubt it would be of much use in a water bowl like the OP has anyway. Leaving it be would probably be the better option, or getting a different bowl without tight/jagged gaps.

I wouldn't use tape, it may cause more problems than it may solve.
If you don't want to change the bowl, you could hot glue a small piece of wood there gnomesaying?
