Need a consolidated list of studies, articles, etc.
I am looking for a list of studies, links to articles, anything you can think of to help me out. I am trying to do my part to help the Reptile/Exotic pet hobby, and I've decided to start with something that is easy to pass on to anyone I may be speaking with about the subject matter. I have ideas on what I can do, and I'm not hopeful. Honestly, I'm feeling desperate, but nothing was ever accomplished by sitting around and hoping really hard that things will work out.
Looking for
- PRO reptile/exotics information, articles, studies, reports
- Economic impact (small businesses, individuals, hotels/convention centers for expos, travel, etc)
- Controlled (not fanatical) articles/information regarding truths about PETA/HSUS
- Major points that are used by anti-exotic supporters
- Major points defending exotic ownership
- Anything else you feel may be beneficial to the cause
There is a LOT of information (both false and accurate) out there, and I'm looking for easily accessed/understood information.
Thanks in advance to anybody who is able to provide what I'm looking for and participate.

have you been on this site? it has some good information, but I'm sure you will want more than just what they have up.

Yep, browsing USARK (at work, so limited in my time/abilities at the moment... my coworker is sick of me threatening to get the proper permits and move to another country). Just making sure I'm exhausting my resources =)

ok, joust wanted to make sure, USARK is defiantly a good starting point

All you should need is this.. The Barkers are probably the best source of info and studies around..

This one was written in reply to an earlier report that initially blamed the disappearance of all these mammals on the pythons.. It explains how there are other factors and not enough studies done to say the pythons are responsible...

This is a CNN video about how the Burms have all but disappeared since the cold winter last year...
http://www.cnn.com/video/standard.ht...ons.vanish.cnn
-
And the recent Reuters report..
http://mobile.reuters.com/article/id...20224?irpc=932
Now we just need someone to find the proper info/links on the genetic testing done which proved Burms were all of imported descent..
The info on the studies done on the radio chipped Burms which were released to record what they were feeding on. This proved that the majority of the captured Burms were feeding on rodents and birds..
Sorry for the multiple posts but with the exception of the last 2 things I just stated, unless you can find that info on the VPI page, you should have everything right here.. If you can consolidate all of the relevant studies and article from the VPI page, along with the others I've posted, and any others that may come up, that would awesome.
I'm sure if we had access to a thread with everything on it so we wouldn't always have to search for this info that would be awesome. Maybe you could put it together and a mod will sticky it for us.

Here's a good one on how the ban will effect the economy in a negetive way...

No problem! I've been wanting something like this for awhile now but I don't have Internet at home at the moment and I don't have time to sit at Denny's with my laptop on their slow wifi trying to do it myself. It's impossible to do it on a phone if you want it properly organized. Especially if I would like to be able to go back to it and use it to either print pages or email documents at some point. I like how most of the VPI publications are PDF. I believe they have all the major studies and reports right there on that page I linked.
**edit.
One more thing.. For info on the HSUS, go to humanewatch.org
They are a watchdog group and post quite a bit of relevant articles daily. I like how they post quotes by local shelters and EX-HSUS donators/supporters saying how they no longer support them or how the HSUS doesn't support shelters.
There have even been a couple local humane societies that have changed their name because they don't want to be associated with the HSUS.

One more thing.. With the exception of the VPI articles and studies which are already in a saved format, the other ones should be put together pretty professionally so that it won't be lost or deemed fake if the article suddenly disappears from online..
For instance. I think each one should be posted separately, quoted in its entirety, with a header that states the name of the reporter/editor, the publication it was published in, and the date it was published, along with the accompanying link to the original article.
I say this because I looked for a couple others that I had previously posted on my Facebook and the link brought me to a page that said this article is no longer available..
Doing it this way ensures that even if an article is removed from where it is online, we would still have all the info and verifiable source details to prove it was actually published and not just made up by those of us fighting the bans.

SD is passing legislation against the HSUS & PETA!!! Because not only are they against pet ownership but they are also against eating meat, and agriculture of any kind.
Check this out!
