    In a tough situation :(
Hey all...so the company I work for souls out to a larger company which resulted in my job being changed to something completely different. I'm not too happy about it so I am applying for the police department since I graduated with a criminal justice degree. The only drawback is that CLEET is THREE months...I don't know what I would do with my 4 snakes... :(

Maybe someone on this forum - that lives near you could foster them while you are away. I've seen this done here before. I would foster them if I wasn't sooo far away.

Keep us posted on how things work out.

Any breeders near you? If so ya might offer to rent slots for em. I did this for a local guy who got deployed. I took in 8 of his snakes and he pays 5 bucks a week per animal and i feed em

Hopefully you'll find someone within a reasonable distance to care for them while you're away. I'd do up at least a brief contract outlining the care you expect them to receive, and what happens if they need vet care at a minimum. Cover your butt with both hands, as my old DI used to say.

    Good luck!

See this is what I like about the herp community. There's a lot of good people out there willing to help each other. If you read some other forums most of them are people just bashing each other. Nice to see good peeps :)

Hey all, thank you so much for all the offers. I'll get around to messaging a few of you about it. It will be another couple of months. I figured if I can find someone I trust enough I could just leave them in the rhino rack. I'm super anal about my snakes as most here are. It made my day to see so many kind responses. I will give a fair warning, the normal is a little devil but the red tail, pastel and albino are babies.

What department are you thinking about going to work for? And do you know when the academy will start?

I don't know how aware you are of CLEET, but you won't be gone for (3) months straight. Here is the way it works...... You will be there somewhere between 14 1/2 to 16 weeks depending on how holidays fall during that time frame, and that is just throughout the week. The hours are ten hour days (or longer) Tuesday- Friday. If you choose to, you can go home on Fridays and not go back until Monday night or Tuesday morning early. With that said, you could be home all but Wednesday and Thursday given that you leave early on Tuesday mornings and come home on Friday nights. Maybe that will help you make a more informed decision and possibly something that is more workable for you?

    Hope it helps!
