just wish he would make a move, this is the 3rd time they've been together, and this is what they do every time there together.

Are you attempting to breed this pair?

Are you ABSOLUTELY sure that its a male and a female?
I've made that mistake.

First make sure you have a male and female. Then i would suggest taking out the hide/ plants so they cant hide.

Re: think they've had an argument
had them both probed last weekend as that was playing on my mind and they are both definatly male/female. have taken out all the hides and things in the rub as many people have advised this, and will see how they get on from there

Re: think they've had an argument
The pics are probably just playing tricks on my eyes, but how old/big are they? They just seem (especially the female) a little small, but it could just be a big tub that's throwing me off.

I was thinking this exact thought, but i think it may just be a bigger tub.

Re: think they've had an argument
the female is 1600g and the male is around 900g. the tub is about 2.5ft-3ft in length. is a 64ltr rub.

I thought it looked tall enough that I was just imagining things. :P I second the comment about removing hides and greenery when you pair them. Best of luck!

Re: think they've had an argument
how are you introducing them? are you puting the male in the female cage, of visaversa? how long are you leaving them together?? also,, you might try misting the female..
spooky

Putting another males fresh shed in with them works too sometimes.

putting the male into the females cage. leaving them together for 3 days, then letting the male rest for 3 days, and then back in for another 3 days etc. will try the misting tomorow when i buy a spreyer :)

Re: think they've had an argument
also,, are they in a heavy trafic area such as in a living room or something? im not sure if that matters,,, but we all like a little privacy:cool:.. and where/who probed them? have they ever probed before? im not questioning their experience or anyting just trying to get to the bottom of it..... ALSO, seems that i just watched a vid the other day on racks, and the person in the video was saying how when he swiched racks (to dark tubs) his reluctant males took off... but thats just second hand news....\

there in my bedroom, so not really in a major high traffic area. there not actually in a rack, its just a rub above a viv, hes in the viv, and shes in the rub (am getting a rack built later this year fro hopefully some more additions). when taking all the hides out i put black paper all round the sides of the rub to make it darker so it seems safer (like one big hide) so not to stress them out too much.
all help is welcomed, will just keep trying for now :D:rolleyes:

Re: think they've had an argument
Maybe he forgot to bring flowers....lol. just kidding. Hope they hook up for you. :D

Well it sounds like you are trying, good luck, and that was a cute picture!

Lots of humidity helps! Whenever I place males with females I go through and Give everyone a good dousing.

I wonder if there's too much space in there and they need a smaller enclosure? Most of the ones I've seen locked up are in pretty small tubs and quarters are close enough for them to touch.

Re: think they've had an argument
they are my het pied pair, and it is my first breeding, so kinda hoping to produce a pied eventually from them.
the cage size is what every breeder over here in the uk has recommended, but if it continues this way might try a smaller cage with them :)

Not saying it wouldn't be worth a shot, but mine all lock in 41qt tubs. It might be the open headspace more than the overall size of the tub.
