Do you feed on a schedule?
How many of you feed on the same day each week? If my bp does not eat on Saturday I usually wait until the nex Saturday to try again. Is that a normal practice or do you guys tend to try again in a few days of they did not eat?

Every Friday evening. If they don't eat (very rare for me), they'll see another one that looks just like it in 7 days. This is for adults only.

Juvies get offered every 5 days until they reach around 400 grams, then they go to every Friday. I have no scientific reasoning for switching to once a week when they hit 400 grams, but it's a system that works for me.

I feed my bp's every seven days. I feed my boa's every seven until they hit around 1500 grams. Then they switch to every 10 days. If the boa's start looking over weight then I'll switch them to ever 14 days.

I use a loose schedule not wedded to anything to exactly usually Sunday nights but sometimes Saturday or Monday. Some that have skipped a few meals might get an extra mid week with the little ones if they are interested. They get on Sunday and every second Thursday or so. not a exact timetable just what works that week.

I tend to look at the interest level a animal that is really interested might get a second meal here and there the ones whom are not don't. I tend to allow the snakes to decide.

Right now I feed every 5-7 days. Not on a particular day. Once they get older I will pick a day of the week for feeding.

Yep. I do monday and friday , I feed my normals and purple albino retic. Sometimes, one of my normals will refuse to consume (but will strike&constrict). I just wait till next feeding day, then she'll feed.
I do wed and sunday for my granite yellow anacondas. There alway's hungry so I've never had any feeding problem's. There feeding responses are INSANE! So, fast and violent Yikes!

I feed mine on the weekend. I don't have a set day but I just aim for sometime during the weekend.

I feed all of mine on Tuesday.

It's just easier for me to keep track when I designate a day to it. Without the schedule, I would have to look up the last time I fed on my tracking software to gauge if I needed to feed or not and why bother with that when I can just be like, "Oh, Tuesday already? Time for feeding!"

I think I'll be switching it up soon and do two times a week when I get my own rat colony up but that's not for a couple months or so.

We feed when they are hungry and when we have the time, no schedule per say, but they all tend to get offered twice a week except adults who get offered every 7-10 days.

I feed once a week, if they don't eat, they wait till next week. The only snakes that ever get offered food more often are breeder females to speed up their weight loss recovery and prepare them for the upcoming season. They generally are offered food every 4-5 days, and need it.

Every Friday for all my pythons (hatchlings- adults). For certain adults I may skip a week once or twice a month depending how fat they are lol

Absolutely I do. Every 5 days for my bp's as mine are all young. I will switch to a 7 day once they get to about 400 grams. I feed my juvi boa every 7 days, and then I will switch to every 10 days when he gets bigger.

    How do we feed weekly?

Open the tub and drop rat :snake: goes nom nom nom.

Why feed weekly or more often?

Because they are hungry and enjoy eating weekly, and it's easier to keep them eating consistently.

Smaller snakes I feed 10% mass method and on a 4/7 days schedule. Adults I feed light meals to often 3-7% with a 7 day frequency. Like Jerry it seems easier to keep them eating than a long gap and bigger meals.

I have also looked a study that suggested that a period of no food followed by a large meal was not as efficient for the snake the digestive system during fasts drops and goes in to a sort of stand by mode, with food it comes back up this takes a period of time ranging from a few hours to a day. The digestive system is not running as efficiently during this build up so there is less nutrition pulled from the prey and more energy is expended. It just seemed logical to use smaller meals and more often and not allow dormancy.

I feed my snake every Friday. It works perfectly. I keep him at the office so feeding on Friday allows him to be by himself for two days following feeding, then when I come in on Monday I handle him again.

Feed my adults every Sunday. Feed my hatchlings under 200 grams, every 4 days. Feed my hatchlings under 400 grams, every 5 days. Anything over 400-500 grams I plan to feed every 7 with my adults. Iherp.com makes it really easy to track when I've fed, and when my next scheduled feedings should be.
