How often to you handle?

How often do you handle your BP and for how long? I know all snakes are different but I am just wondering what people have found to be appropriate.

I try to handle them at LEAST every other day, waiting a good 24-48 hours after feeding.

I handle whenever I feel like it, except for 2 days after feeding or during shed, they are little jerks when they can't see :rolleyes:

I really only handle when cleaning and random check ups...never really often or for any great length of time.

I agree with the first 2 posts, I handle my snakes whenever I feel like it and for as long as that particular snake will tolerate it (some will only do 5 minutes, while others will sit in my lap for over an hour watching Star Trek)

As long as they haven't been fed in the past 48 hours, aren't shedding, are established, and eating well I see no reason to over think handling.

x2 They don't miss me if I don't handle them, and I have no desire to stress them unnecessarily during shed and digestion. Fortunately, I have enough of them that I can always pick up a different one if the one I want is indisposed! :D

I handle kind of randomly now that I think about it. Sometimes Ill handle a couple of days in a row and then not for a couple of days... which works out to around every other day lol Except for after a feed of course.

With the well talked about exceptions of shed and post feeding times, handling on a regular, even nightly basis seems to be tolerated well by most BPs. There will always be exceptions, and as was pointed out earlier, some do better than others, but regular handling generally leads to a calmer snake. Also, with regular handling you can spot trouble signs early when they can be easier to address.

I take out my normal almost everyday. He's my little bud. We watch TV together. I haven't handled my pinstripe at all yet, waiting for a successful feeding.

3 times a week for me seems like just the right amount. Not too much and as far as my snakes are concerned too little is not possible

I handle mine pretty sporadically. I'll get the babies out at least every couple of days (or I try to) and my older ones maybe get out every other week. Times range from 10 minutes to a couple of hours for my older ones, never had an adverse reaction to it time wise. They get stressed if the environment is a little intense for them (lots of noise or light). No feeding issues though. and normal behavior

Whenever I feel like it 48 hours after feeding. My snakes seem to enjoy being out of they're tanks. Anyone who thinks they don't enjoy being out is just wrong in my opinion. If you were in a tank or tub curled up in the dark all the time wouldn't you like to come out every now and then?

Pretty much when ever I feel like it as long as its been a couple days after feeding or as long as she's not in shed and I like to make sure that the house is a good temp... her tank is normally much warmer than the house... shes so spoiled.

As long as your snake is eating and you don't let him get cold, I don't see why you can't hold them as often as you wish. Keeping them warm is my main concern is keeping them warm and healthy.

Everyday except pink to shed and 48 hours after feeding. Could be 10 min at lunch or an hour after work. I bought them to enjoy as pets :D

Totally agree with this and I do the same. :gj:

Almost every day except shed and feeding (2 days rule). This funny guy always come out of tub almost every time I open the lid. I nap with my Hog Island boa next to me. She is always at the same spot when I wake up (staring at me).
