    Shedding Synchronization
Now that all but two of my BPs are in the same room, and QT is still going on elsewhere - the 7 that are together (not in the same enclosure, I assure you) seem to have synchronized their shed cycles.

Sable shed today. Ryn shed yesterday. Panda shed 2 days ago. Tortuga shed 5 days ago. Icky shed 7 days ago. Peekaboo went blue yesterday. Typhon went pink today.

That's JUST THE BPs! The Pueblan will probably shed tonight or tomorrow.

    QT is the same story!

Mystic the boa shed last night. Magic the boa went blue yesterday. Sstheno went blue this morning. Argonaut is in the pink.

Seriously?! Out of 14 snakes there's only 2 that haven't shed/gone blue/pink in the last week. I'm waiting to see the two Carpets turn blue. It's so ridiculous that I'm laughing. I'm flabbergasted. (That's such a fun word..)

Has this happened to anyone else?

That's crazy. I haven't ever had that happen, did anything happen in the past month that might have triggered them all?

Yep. I have absolutely nothing to back this up but I have a hunch that snakes excrete some kind of pheromone when they shed (a bit like women living in the same house?). At one point I had all seven of mine (5 different species, all in separate enclosures, some in separate rooms, all different ages, all on different feeding schedules / types of food) turn opaque within the same week. It's a little eerie lol.

I have absolutely NO idea. No big changes, only a few small changes - like new water dishes or new hides.

I got a new rack for my juvies today, so they moved into that - but that was just today.
    It's so weirdddddd.

@Crazy - Yeah. When I told my boyfriend I explained it in the same fashion (women + house = synchronization). I'm starting to believe snakes do it too.

Only thing that could make sense is that they are on similar feeding schedules in the same environment.

I would say it's just a random occurrence. I'll have weeks where it seems everyone is in shed, and then I'll go over a 2 month period where different snakes are shedding each week.

They aren't on the same feeding schedule - unless this week the stars all aligned or something. I have babies, juvies, and adults. and 4 different species!

I find it odd, hilarious and confounding all at the same time.

Probably just random. I feed all of mine at the same time on a regular schedule and most of the time I will get several that shed within a week of eachother.

    Yep.

I do find that odd, but it's happing at my house too. I've only been a BP owner for three weeks. I own two BP, Jackson, which came to us on 1/25/12 and Paisley which came to us on 2/3/12. Paisley just shed yesterday, and Jackson turned blue yesterday. No wonder he is was being a jerk this past week. Duh..... The only one who has'nt showed a sign of shedding is Jack our corn snake. I'll be willing to bet he goes after Jackson gets done sheddig. lol

It is very odd I also see the same thing sometimes this past 3 weeks has seen every snake I have (11 permanent and 2 in 'rehab') shed the really odd thing is my bearded dragon is shedding too. Go figure.

I wonder (not the dragon) with the royals, if it is a pheromone thing they do pass pheromone from the fluid between the shed layers? Just a musing on my part!

I swear I have thought the same thing. None of my snakes shed alone, at least 2 of them shed at the same time. But more likely than not it's 3 or 4 of them. I don't get it but it's crazy.

It's so weird. I just picked up a new one today too, and "she" is in shed as well. I use the genderization term very loosely :P

I'm pretty sure my house is a college dorm too - everyones taking their clothes off..

Though - when Sable shed, I was able to untangle it before it dried up and I have it all flattened out - its the most perfect one he has ever shed. Its so awesome I'm keeping it.

Yes, I've also noticed that a large number of my snakes will go into shed at or around the same time.

    That's what I wondered.

I find the same thing will happen with my snakes; they often shed at the same time. I wish I knew more about this and if there was some sort of pheromone at work or if it's just a cool coincidence
