Late year or what?
I have been breeding since november and all 4 of my girls have had at least 5 good locks. All are still eating and no ovulations yet. Unless I missed them. What is wrong. I was feeding medium rats about once a week. I feed frozen. They are all still locking to. Any advice or just keep pairing?

Re: Late year or what?
any input would be great guys!

I'd just keep pairing
Are they all big/old enough?
-
I'm running into the same thing! My girl is still eating and locking up and shes been paired since october!
sent from my EVO

Re: Late year or what?
Ya it is frustrating and yes they are all 1500 grams or larger? I don't know what it is maybe due to the warmer winter?

that makes sense... who knows

Definitely a really warm winter.. Especially down here. I only have 1 of 15 girls that has ovulated... Cold front came though today though and I've been seeing signs of building the last week or so

Re: Late year or what?
Yeah I hope something happens this is my first year and I am excited!!! I have 4 girls breeding I am hoping for at least one to drop a clutch!!!
-
Oh, I have only one female who's gone off feed, so far, the rest are still building and locking up.
This is normal, though, not late. I never see eggs until the middle of next month, at the earliest, and usually not until the month after that.

Our Albino had her first lock in August and Ovulated on February 2nd. You do the math!
Ball pythons take forever.

Re: Late year or what?
I have heard others in FL with a late year due to the warm weather. BPs can build for 4-8 months before an ovy and even then you have to wait 45 days for eggs and then 50-60 days after that for babies! So it is just one big waiting game! lol! Good luck!

Re: Late year or what?
This past year was a late year for everyone. My girls never lay before May or June - and keep laying until September. If nothing else, breeding ball pythons teaches patience.

Re: Late year or what?
Yeah that is for sure lol I just want my first clutch. But, I guess I just keep pairing feeding and waiting because there is still locking going on. Although my biggest female has recently gone off feed it seems. Maybe it is something!!!
-
I had one girl that started pairing october 1st and laid eggs on feb 6th. I have 2 other girls that have been paired since november first and are still just building. Then I have 4 more girls that I just started pairing about a month ago. Some go quickly, some take longer. Just keep pairing and offering food until you see ovy. have they been bowl wrapping? Laying inverted? other building behavior?
-
I have the same issue, first year and I have 2 girls I hoping will go for me. One has been locking 7ish times, one has a younger male and so far has only locked in the last 2 weeks. Here is hoping we both get our clutches! Good luck!
-
This is all very good info. I thought I was starting to lose my mind...but it seems we're right on schedule then.
If anything comes from my pairings it'll be a HUGE clutch full of PATIENCE!
-
I know how you feel. I've been pairing since late October and I haven't seen any signs of ovy. None of my girls are even glowing yet.
It's just a giant waiting game. In the end you learn patience and are hopefully rewarded with eggs. :P

Re: Late year or what?
Yeah guys I haven't seen a single sign yet no bowl wrapping or laying inverted or nothing. Just locking and eating thats all for me and I started at thanksgiving.

With all those locks, you'll be fine. Like everyone said, patience is a virtue ... but like you, I also want to see more immediate results. Btw I've charted my breeders the last couple years and in some cases do see a pattern. Good luck!

Re: Late year or what?
This is my first year as well. Both girls are still locking and eating, no really noticeable swelling or glow yet. Follicles feel about 1/2" in one and 3/4" in the other <-- palpating is definitely something that takes time to learn lol
I started pairing in october and got my first locks in november. Each have locked at least 5 times :D
This winter has been pretty warm here in cali as well...

Keep feeding and breeding. Breeding season lasts all year. I have a albino female that did not lay eggs for me until December 26.

Great happy im not the only one, my female locked 3 times and stop eating but i dont see any ovulation going on with her and now she is going into shed. Got to love the waiting game :D

I know we are always waiting for one thing or another, but it is worth it in the end, my albino laid six eggs that are due to hatch soon.:)
-
I started 2 females in October and 2 females in December.
Only one has ovulated and she gave me a clutch today (2-14-12).
The others have stopped feeding and are building quite nicely!:)

Re: Late year or what?
Yeah good luck to all of you guys. But yeah I have gotten a ton of locks and my one female is a proven breeder 10 egg layer so I hope things happen!
-
Depends on how you breed.
All my breeding girls are off feed but 2 and all males are off feed. Most females have follicles in the 20mm range now. Should get more ovys in about 1-2 months
