What can I study that will actually get me a job?

I am always looking ahead to where I want to be and am interested in learning about what you do and what type of education you would recommend if you are happy with what you are doing, or if you could do it all over again what you would have done?

I'm an electrical engineering major in college right now, and I am in the process of adding a second major of Mechanical engineering. Engineering is a field that is still growing and seems to be future proof (look around everything you see needed an engineer at some point in the design/manufacturing process. In most cases more than one)

What if math isnt your strongest subject haha? Engineering interests me but Calc I thru IV doesnt. Im only in my 2nd sem. tho so ive got some time to think about it i guess lol...

I graduated with a B.S. in Bioengineering with an emphasis in Biomedical. I worked at the USDA for my co-op/intern during my junior and senior year. During my senior year I realized how miserable I was and hated my job because I found it boring and I felt isolated being in the lab all day. With one semester left til graduation it was too late to change majors. I attempted to find a job with my degree but nothing really stuck to me since I wasn't even passionate about it. I ended up going back to school and I enrolled in a Veterinary Technology program since animals have always been my number one passion. I currently intern at my local animal shelter in the vet clinic and I graduate this June. I'll have my license by the end of the year to become an RVT. I am much happier now than I was before. RVTs are in high demand since a majority of people are not licensed.

If math isn't your strongest subject then engineering would not be a good fit for you. I completed all calc classes, differential equations, and statistics. Plus you need physics too which is basically all math.

What are your strongest subjects now? What is your current major or what are you considering?

i am happy where i am at but definitely made a few wrong turns to get here.
if i could do it all again i would not have wasted 20 grand on an automotive trade school just to decide i like cars as a hobby and not a profession. i would have spent the money on schooling to become an architect though. with hind sight i also wish i would have got into contracting as i love to build. being a contractor can be very fruitful if your good.
but i am happy as a machinist. i make good money and enjoy what i am doing.

Yea exactly, too much math for me haha. Idk i still dont know what i wanna do really. I just want a job that pays well and is moderately interesting to me after i graduate. Im at CC now, general studies. Trying to save some money while I decide what i wanna do. I probably end up going for something in business. I enjoy math like probability and stats.
And yea aaron youre a weirdo if you enjoy calc :P But dont feel bad bc some of my friends do too lol!

Ive heard that quote before too, i think its very good.
But im a pretty realistic person so even if i got a dream job but wasnt making money doing it then it would seem like work for me. Making lots of dough is what I love ;)

I am a nurse, and I really like my job. There are always jobs available and tons of different specialty areas to choose from.

And... only one Algebra class and a stats class in my Undergrad. Grad school adds more stats.

I myself went to Culinary School... Le Cordon Bleu Chicago... To be honest, even having 3/4 of the degree AND 4 certifications, finding a job is hard... Remember, college only assures you a job in a field that is a SPECIFICITY.. A employer can hire a illegal and pay them under the table to do the work you would be doing... In fact we recently had SEVEN... yes SEVEN... employees fired for that reason. :rolleyes:

In the end, you do what your heart loves and be happy...With that, you'll never work a day in your life..

really it doesn't matter what you study, you will find a job if you are willing to work hard enough and put in the hours!
