Please help us keep our pets!! LOOK!
All of us in IL are doing what we can. Scott Smith is talking with Andrew Wyatt and they will be keeping us informed as to what we need to do in Springfield to stop this.
Until then, we ask that EVERYONE please sign our petition and share it everywhere that you can. Forums, Facebook, etc. Even out of state help is much appreciated!! This is one of the most outrageous bills I've seen thus far. Help us squash it!!

signed and shared. I hope this petition works better than the others so far.
-
Signed - That's absolutely absurd. ><

Yeah right? Those evil dangerous toads! Omg! And how about the prairie dogs! It's nuts! Then there's the part where they can add any animal they deem dangerous at any time?
Look at the list! All boas, pythons, all monitor lizards, etc.. This one takes the cake!

Yeah, cause my hamster is gonna maul your face off. Right.
"Mammal" people are gonna drive me batty.

Re: Please help us keep our pets!! LOOK!
The Tinley Park expo is one of the largest in the country.
It is crazy this going on in IL.
Maybe this is a good place to end this once and for all. Time to fight hard for our rights/hobby, etc...

The IL ban is utterly ridiculous. I signed. Hopefully it can be stopped. This craziness that is spreading across the US like wildfire needs to stop. :rage::rage::rage:
-
I don't understand why all of a sudden elected officials are trying to ban everything. I could be mistaken, but isn't there a crumbling economy and potential second credit downgrading on the way? But of course that doesn't apply to people not working in the private sector, so why worry about it?

I know. Plus Scott Smiths AAE is twice a month. There are other things going on here pretty regularly also. We also have a lot of reptile stores. If this passes, these animals would no longer be allowed in public. All these things would go bye bye. It would be a disaster.
A $250 permit PER animal PLUS $100.000 liability insurance PER animal?? For something you can never take out of your house.

Re: Please help us keep our pets!! LOOK!
I couldn't afford a $250 annual fee for each snake. The reptile industry/hobby will end.
Never did trust/like politicians ,but who came up with this craziness? Very bad for the economy and down right UNamerican!

It's all for the money. You're older and from IL so you must understand. ;) LOL...
IL has nothing but greedy men to say the least in power.. We are one of the worst states.. this is forbthe state to regain all the money it spends on food stamps and so.many other worthless bills. We need to say something. They're only going to hurt themselves if they pass this pathetic excuse.

Please understand, signing internet petitions doesn't do a darn thing.
Please, please, please, please MAIL a real letter to the congressmen and senators, CALL their offices on the phone. It's far too easy to fake an internet crowd, but if hundreds of real letters and phone calls speaking of this outrage deluge them, they will take notice. Be honest with yourself, how many times do you think a man as busy as a state senator logs on to Facebook ?
Hit them with something they can't ignore. Remember in "It's a Wonderful Life" ? The court declared Santa Claus real when an avalanche of letters was delivered to the courthouse. So, let's show these fools we MEAN business! Avalanche these offices with letters, bombard them with phone calls, make them understand our pets are worth the cost of a postage stamp, the price of a long distance phone call. My little girl is sending letters to the Illinois lawmakers for crying out loud! What's your excuse for taking the easy way out ?
Here is a link to a very helpful post. It's time to stop whining and start fighting back!!

We know, but every little bit does help. We were asked to sit tight until we hear back from Scott on what the next action will be. We also have a link posted on our local group on FB to contact each of our senators but it's imperative that we wait until Andrew and Scott come up with a plan and a rough draft. The people behind this bill are not going to listen to "oh please don't take my pets away because I love them"... No, because they are ignorant to the facts. They believe they are dangerous and nothing you say will change that. They need to be told and shown the facts.
If everyone starts sending letters just voicing their opinion with no draft to go by, imagine the mess they will have. "They" being the officials and their aids who receive them. A bunch of upset people who are not using proper terms, and in many cases, proper grammar I'm sure. It would not look good.
USARK is on this. Petitions don't help AFTER something has passed, but the number of supporters that sign PRIOR to it passing can help.
Plus this petition, by being posted everywhere, is getting the word out faster. People are more likely to read this than the entire proposal itself. It proves beyond a shadow of a doubt what we have all been saying. That they WILL come for everyone's pets. Not just snakes. It's only a matter of time.
