    Need some help deciding..
So.. I've posted a thread, BUT now it's time to actually buy the rack.. And I mean tonight. :)

I'm going to purchase the economy line 6 level. Final price with shipping $325

The Thermostat I'm still up in arms about.. I was thinking this. http://www.spyderrobotics.com/store/...134a2dceaa276d

Just the basic one.. So.. Is that a good one to go with? Same with the rack. Is it a good choice? Granted about $350 is my max for tonight and I want to have it here before Tinley..

I think that you will be happy with this setup, personally I would go with the Herpstat 1 over the Herpstat intro, but either will work

Animal plastic racks are great however if you go with the economy line I would recommend that you have a heated snake room preferably above 76, if you do not than the regular line would be best for you.

Herpstat t-stat is a great choice. :gj:

I want to upgrade, BUT i'm tight on money right now and need the rack to save the room. It will however be fine room wise. :) My room has been doing great on temp. If not I will bring down the heater we have to make sure. I'm still battling the RI that 1 snake brought in my collection... Don't need any more!

Why not buy one of their newer products like the Herpstat 1 or 2. Btw does anyone know the difference between the two? I presume it has to deal with number of outlets and wattage.

First off the Herpstat intro that he linked in the OP is one of the new ones

second the difference between the herpstat 1 and herpstat 2 is that the herpstat 1 has 1 outlet/probe and the herpstat 2 has 2 outlets/probes

Actually, I messed up..lmao... IF someone can stray me to the Herpstat 1 I may do so.. BUT..The fuse thing just came up and now I'm a bit confused..

I'd love some explanation of the whole thermostat thing... I have NO idea how it works....

What part are you concussed on? I'll try my best to explain it all but I need a starting point lol

Just like a car fuse. If you accidently overload or get a short the fuse gets burned out reducing the possibility of damaging internal electrical components. Fuses are replaceable and cheap.

..Everything.. lol. I know thermostats are used to monitor temperateness and make sure that the temps themselves do not go up to high. BUT I don't know where to set the probe, and pretty much what the more complex do. Like Some have a night time fall. I guess I know some basics, BUT I'm a little lost on the probe itself and how to calculate the wattage of the tape.

ok, I'm not sure on the Economy racks, but every other AP product has a slot for your thermostat probe, so I assume that they do as well.

Unless you are breeding I wouldn't even bother with the night drop functionality.

As long as you don't have more than 350 watts then you don't need to worry about wattage (thats 17.5 feet of 11" flexwatt) all you do to figure it out as take the thermostats max wattage and divide by the Wattage per linear foot that the flexwatt is (11' = 20 watt per Linear foot, 3" comes in 6 watt and 10 watt versions, 4" is 8 watts)

    did I cover everything?

Spider robotics probably will have some useful instructions on setting up the herpstat; I'm sure you can set day and night temps. It should also include placement of the probe. But from my understanding the probe is place on one of the heat tape sections where the snake is housed. You should still use a temperature reader on the interior of the tank where the snake is housed.

I would suggest this because the plastic bin will absorb some of the energy emitted from the heat tape. Therefore the temperature on the tape might read 95 and the temp inside the bin on the same spot might read 93. These aren't exact number, I'm just theorizing.

So i just had a thought.... I REALLY don't need a 41 quart rack... AND I would be able to get the 32 quart one cheaper. I have 2 adult BP's one who isn't even heavy enough or "big" enough to go inside a 41 yet. And if she does outgrow it before I get one. (She's a bad eater...) I can always put her in a tank.

So basically... WOULD the 32 quart be the same as the 41? Just a nit smaller and cheaper? If so I'll purchase one of those then.

You could probably get away with a 32qt rack, for about the same price as the economy 41, you might even be able to get an 32qt enclosed rack.

I know that feeling, but when your giant box arrives and you are putting it together that feeling will be all gone :D
