Unexpected hault
So my aunt, who was going to buy me my thermostat and flexwatt can't buy it anymore apparently even though she told me she would.. Oh well. Guess I am going have to rack up the money to get it and the snake. Just means I won't get a snake as soon as I hoped. Well...I'm kind of bummed but I will get my snake sooner or later.

It's a sign that it will take more time to get the snake, yes.

:gj: It's great that you're keeping your patience and determination in the face of setbacks - both will serve you well as a BP owner!

Thanks! =) Yeah, sometimes I can be reaaally patient but other times I can be so impatient it drives me crazy! lol. This time I'm being patient though. I've learned I can't always get what I want right this second. xD Especially when it comes to snakes.

Patience really is a virtue. I had 2 bps for about 3 months before my mother forced me to get rid of them, ive been waiting what seems like forever to get more but its still going to be another year or two before I see anymore snakes.

That's good. Plenty of time to keep reading and asking questions.

Taking the time to save up to buy a good thermostat and snake will be worth it in the long run. Living animals should never be impulse buys, I know you have been doing research and talking a lot so that doesn't exactly apply. Do more reading and you can start planning and assembling the bits you will need now, you will have the snake for 20 years or more a few more months aren't in the grand scheme a big deal.

Good advice here people. I only have one BP and only plan to have only one unless I see a nice male het axanthic ball somewhere. If all things work out according to plan, I'll have the same snake when I'm 40. Also, I got a temp job at an attorneys office and saved up for two months to get my bp. Saved up and bought my bp and bought all the supplies. Plus I had extra money so I bought a new shot gun. :P All in all... Work hard, be patient, study up and stay in school. Up with hope, down with dope.

I agree, I'm glad to hear that you aren't going to rush into it without the proper equipment. I'm not sure what you were looking at before, but if you want to go for a less expensive one, you can get a Rancho or a Johnson, they aren't a bad price considering what they are. I use Helixes and Ranchos.

Thanks! =) I am going to get a VE-100 thermostat. I'm getting everything from reptile basics. I have an enclosure already...I have almost everything except for the most important things which is the heat. So of course I would have to wait to get the snake lol.

I would go with the VE-200 as it is a proportional thermostat... which is much better than the non-proportional thermostats like the VE-100, hydrofarm, etc.
I prefer herpstats, but the VE's are very good as well

I tend to agree that proportional units are more flexible in the long run. On/off units under some conditions (cool ambient room temps and higher wattage heaters used in conduction with thin walled enclosures) can generate unexpectantly large temp swings. I too like the herpstats and the intro proportional unit is only slightly ($14.01) more than the VE100.
