Cage size question
The hatchling BP I got in Oct. is doing fantastic! He's eating every 5-7 days and had shed a few times with no problems :) I am looking to upgrade his tank and have narrowed the choices down to 2. I am looking at the 36x28x18 Vision cages or 36x24x12 or even the 48x24x12(since it's on sale) Animal plastics cage. Which one would be better? Thanx

I have 4 animal plastics T8's. I love them and highly recommend them, and I can answer any questions you have.

Re: Cage size question
I also have several of the AP T8's. Great cages and a good value currently.
-
They have been on sale for a long time, hopefully they will stay that way as I will be purchasing more this summer along with an incubator and a hatchling rack from them

Re: Cage size question
Do the animal plastics cages come with an area to place lights on top or do you order those seperatly?(Some of the pictures show screen circles, some do not)
-
those cost extra, but I would highly recommend ordering it with Flexwatt. (unless you don't already have or want to purchase a thermostat.
I have one with 2 screens for heat lamps, and I link that one too.

if you want I have lots of pictures I can post them here or just send me a PM

Re: Cage size question
It's worth purchasing the lights from AP as they will drill the holes and install the mounting screws you will need. You might save 5$ by purchasing your own fully enclosed florescent light and installing it. But the way they router the top to hide the cabling is very nice.
If you meant heat lights they just cut an area and install a screen for you to place your heat lamps. Although in the AP I really recommend an RHP, with flexwatt.

Re: Cage size question
Did you guys get locks for your cage doors? I'm getting the sliding doors and was wondering if the locks are really necessary.

I think that depends on who you live with. The snake can not get out the sliding glass doors. However someone could easily open them and get him out that you may not want to.
Also call up Ali and order (if you go with AP), somehow the shipping was much cheaper when I called than when I put it together in my cart!

I have locks on all of my Animal
Plastics enclosures, not necessarily to keep the snakes from getting out but more to keep others from getting in when I'm not there

I already pm'd him these pictures of mine but I will post them here for others to see.
These were taken at 2 different times, once when I first set it up. And today(the ones with more deco) both my my crappy ipad2 camera. My girlfriends not here with her nice digi.
Also sorry for the crappy deco, he didn't like how we laid out the fake vines so he has managed to move them around the cage haha.

I know the feeling welcome to the club

48 x 24 x 12 because your snake is going to grow over time and will be living in that cage for a very long time.
My BP is in a 72 x 18 x 17 ,I can do a heat gradaient easily with these deminsions and she is very comfortable in this cage.

Re: Cage size question
Thanx guys for all the responses :) I just ordered the T8(48x24x12) with 2 circle screen cutouts, a Fluorescent fixture and flexwatt heating. Woohoo! Although I need to call them tomorrow and add a lock to my order because I forgot how crafty my cats can be :colbert: I can't wait to get it and start setting it up.

Just to make sure you know the flexwatt will need to be regulated by a thermostat.
