    Lazy Ball Python!!
Anybody else's ball ever do this? Threw a rat into his bin last night and the rat made a dash straight at the snake and tried to hide underneath one of Dimetri's coils. Dimetri immediately started constricting!! Brought his head around and just watched the rat die. Never even attempted to bit it! It was too funny!!!

I have strike happy snakes myself (only when food is around) so no. But it would be strange to just watch the snake watch the rat die with that silly little grin the BPs have. O_O Dark humor is dark.

Never had this happen personally... One time though, my big normal female decided she didn't feel like striking. The rat was cowering in the corner of the tub and she slithered up next to the rat and rather than coiling, she just crushed it against the side of the tub...

HAHA! Too good. My snake hasn't done that, but one time she DID strike and constrict FOUR times. Just over and over again. Apparently the mouse needed to be punished.

My BPs disapprove highly of your BPs' barbaric nature. *Snooty, high brow scoff*

I have one that rarely bother constricting at all. (I feed FT) she just takes it and starts swallowing.

Neat. I have never seen one take out a live rat without striking.

My blind ball Athena has done that. When I switched her from mice to rats, rather than strike at the bigger heat signature, she simply smashed the rat against the side of the tub and held it there until it died, then ate it.

I have also had a few of my bigger girls pin the rat with a coil of body to get it right where they wanted it before striking.

Oh they are a lot smarter than people give them credit for. It is amazing to watch my big girls muscle a rat around, they keep their vulnerable heads well back out of the way, and use a heavy coil of solid muscle to maneuver the rat to where they want it, then strike.

If a rat comes at them too quickly, they are not above throwing a coil on top of it and smashing it down against the floor to subdue it, then striking while the rat is dazed.
