"Snakes: Emerald Tree Boa, Green Tree Python. The Reticulated and African Pythons, all Anacondas; Black Rat Snake and venomous snakes require a permit because they are considered potentially dangerous."
Permit requirements: "Permits are not issued for keeping these species as pets. Permits in this category are issued only for certain scientific, educational, commercial, or other specific reasons. . Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they are actively engaged in the activity for which they have applied for or received a permit. (See 321 CMR 2.12) The only exception is for a prohibited animal for which there is proof it was in the owner's possession within Massachusetts before July 1, 1980. This exemption is granted only for the life of that particular animal."

Only guess about the Rat snake is that it is a native to the area. GTBs and ETBs I have no idea.

I am certain when i do that I will want to move to one of the few place left where they are legal or move to South East Asia where you just take a walk in the jungle and hope for the best.

qft I know of literally dozens of municipalities that have banned "all constrictor snakes" thinking that phrase only means the big species.

Wow same deal here in virginia. This shouldnt come as a surprise though. Monkey see monkey do. They still have to pass so we have our work cut out for us. And thanks skip for the link

Re: rhode island to join the snake ban
If they keep doing this i'll probably just leave this country with it's stupid government throwing our rights out the window.
-
Re: rhode island to join the snake ban
Same! With the SOPA crap and the snake bans, I'd be better off moving to England. Too bad I don't have the money to go :(
-
Yea that will solve it. Move to another country and give up. Thats the problem. Everyone wants to fold and give up. What happened to fighting for what you believe in. Look the only way to get a point across when it comes to things like this is to stand up and fight for your rights. The opposition would love for you to give up and run. Can you imagine whete this country would be if everyone did that. If you really care about this then stand up and do something about it. Fight, lobby, get on your internet box and fire off emails to politicians, rally, support the cause. Or you can just give up and fold. Your choice. I for one wont give up without a fight.

Re: rhode island to join the snake ban
Just move to AL or GA. Only venomous and local animals are prohibited.

from my understanding PA allows hots without a permit and snakes are pretty much completely unrestricted. other than local species.

if they're banning atbs and gtbs as pets for being "dangerous", why haven't they banned pit-bulls and rottweilers?
-
Cause its alot harder to ban a domesticated pet.
-
A lot of domestic animals are illegal around the country...so they'll probably get to it eventually.......
I.E. ferrets in California, pits in Denver, etc etc.

Why stop there? I know big "charity" that takes in $100 Million PLUS in donations that should go with them. :)
Does anyone have a update on this bill though?

Easy solution: Rename all of the snakes
Authority: Hello there, I hear you have a Python and Boa Constricter in your home. They are illegal.
Keeper: Nope. Sorry. Just me, a Curling Ball , and a Vermin Squeezer! :D
