New snake just shed, a little stuck help!
Ok, I have had my mojave male since Friday. He just shed, all in one piece except he has a little bit stuck on his head.

He is out exploring the cage and I was able to check his hide and verified his shed was in there. I was able to remove it without him noticing.

Since it has not been 7 days. He did not eat on Saturday. Is it alright for me to pick him up and pull off this shed? It's just a small piece from his nose to the top of head. I cant see anymore.

Search the site for "stuck shed", you're bound to get a gajillion results.

Summation: Run him through a moist towel, it'll come off in minutes. If that doesn't work, a tiny drop of oil on the shed and the towel trick once more.

Id say the size of a quarter, remember he is pretty big now. Still don't have a scale yet, but hes about 8 months old.

I don't trust that stuff, and it is completely unnecessary anyway. Correct husbandry is the best way to ensure that your snake sheds well.

Ok well I got him out and it appears to be only attached to his top lip area. I attempted to remove it gently with damp fingers and i was able to get a little off. Until I apparently really pissed him off and he started hissing and striking at me.

Ill let him calm down and attempt to get it off himself. It's not stuck to his nostrils. But it does lay over them as hes cruising around the cage right now.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, if it bothers him he will work it off eventually and if not it will be gone next time he sheds

Well it appears to only be stuck on two scales, it was stuck on what appeared to be 4, so maybe now he can get it loose.

Should I maintain his humidity for a little while up to shedding %'s? To assist him with getting it loose?

It was certainly bothering him before I tried to remove it, he was rubbing his nose against everything. Now hes hiding in his warm hide, hes probably scared to death.

He'll be fine, ball pythons, especially young ones are pretty head shy. I would keep the humidity around 60% for a few days then you can let it fall back to normal (40%-60%). If you can get it off thats great. I personally would try to get it off tonight and get it over with.

That's great, and i'm sure that your little Mojave appreciates it even if he doesn't show it.

Haha nope, as soon as I sat him back in his cage he went to a strike position and stared at me. He's definitely not happy with me right now.
