Are you ready for a legal fight?
Just just in from USARK:
"While there is no doubt that saving Boa and Retic was huge for the sustainability of this industry... the fact remains that all of the things that were wrong with this rule making last week, are still wrong today. The "science" was produced from a fudged climate data set; and was inconclisive at best; making far flung projections on inaccurate data points. Second, due process under the Administrative Procedures Act and info quality standards seem to have been completely ignored by FWS, but was entered into the public record by USARK. Third, this still fixes nothing in the Everglades, but it will fund FWS and USGS scientists to the tune of tens to hundereds of millions of taxpayer $. And, thousands of Americans will be subject to felony prosecution if they transport listed snakes accross state lines. USARK is digesting what has occured and we will be exploring all legal remedy. Are you ready for a fight!
The ONLY thing that can change the Contrictor Rule is a federal lawsuit... It is FAR TOO LATE for all of the petitions I see floating around! We need to raise over $150K just to get started... Are you ready for a real fight?"

I donated $10 today after reading that. It's not much but every little bit counts. Maybe I'll donate $10 each paycheck :)
-
I plan on donating what I can to USARK and I hope that we can raise enough money. This will spread to include other species now that they have found the back door and if this is the only way to stop it then I'm going to give what I can to help.
-
Lawsuit it is, then, and yes, I'm ready to give my support as well.
I think one of the first things we will need is a counter to the USGS report, however. An actual peer-reviewed scientific paper that contradicts that report.

Yes every litttel bit helps.
I just renewed my Bronze member ship. Still nothing major, i will continue to make dontiontions
Fauna has like 50,000 plus members. If all of them would give $10 a month.
That would be over $500K a month. Just think of the implications. With the long battle aheaad USARK will need it.

Re: Are you ready for a legal fight?
I'm ready to donate all extra money that I have each week to USARK. What the government did was just wrong. It was completely asinine of them and I am ready for a fight. If it means no more new snakes for a while I can live with that. If I can get in at Denso working 40 hours a week at $9.50 an hour i'll be making more than double what I am now. I will donate half my paycheck each week if I can afford it.

......and yet the number of petitions continues to multiply. It's almost like nobody has read up on challenging amendments to the Lacey Act.
You'd think that with so much importance riding on this issue, we'd figure out not to waste our time on futile gestures (read: petitions) - and focus on the upcoming Federal Lawsuit challenging the data that led to the constrictor (and potential future constrictor) amendments. After all, that's the ONLY way to overturn an amendment to this Federal Law.......
Anybody got an emoticon for a chicken running around with it's head cut off?

How many of us don't hesitate to drop hundreds or even thousands of dollars on a morph? Why not put some of that money towards our future?
These animal rights nuts will never stop. We will always be at war with them. We have to take a stand and fight.
I just renewed my membership to USARK. Everyone who values their animals needs to reach into their pocket and donate now. If you do not, then you have no right to complain. You are standing by while they strip your rights from you.
If everyone who signs these petitions would donate a mere $5-10, we'd have more than enough money to fund this lawsuit. Stop thinking other people will foot the bill. Give up your morning coffee or fast food for a few days and put that money to ensure our future.
I want my children and grandchildren and generations after them to be able to own these amazing creatures.
Everyone, please, donate as much as you can spare. Make your voices heard, by all means, but money speaks so much louder than words!

Can a mod put a donate button on the main page?
I am in, not only because of the snakes but more so due to the immorality that our representatives display more and more as years go by. It makes me sick how studies are manipulated and then spewed to the public through the media. The part that sucks is it works! Nearly every person I have talked to knows all about these giant snakes taking over the Everglades.
Can a mod put a donate button on the main page? I have seen the USARK button down the page, but I had to look for it. I see the red Python Ban header every time I log on.
Instead of the Federal Python Ban, maybe it should read "Donate to the Legal battle to keep your snakes" and have the link so it is as easy as possible to donate to the correct place.

Re: Are you ready for a legal fight?
I was saving for a 1.1 pair for my future breeding projects but if we don't stand now, there won't be any need for me to have future breeding projects. I'm donating that money (about $2,000) to USARK and will set aside a percentage from every check to donate to them as well. Hate that it came to this but as has been said previously, money talks and I'll put mine where my mouth is. Now, cue my theme music by Def Leopard, lmao! Hahahahahaha! :D

Donated $20. Really wish I could do more and donate more.
-
Well I said that I support USARK and I do er.. did, 50$
I am a Canadian, the constrictor rule does not effect me directly and the 4 (hell all 9) are illegal in my area already but none of that matters. I hope that I am not the only Canadian here who decides that our government might just look south on this and think it is a good idea.

I'm in, can't do much all at once, but $10-30 out of each paycheck gets us that much closer. After signing once petition I didn't see the point of signing more, concentrated efforts will serve us much better

Not to sound like the hater in the room but does anyone actually think that 150k is going to even scratch the surface on this proposed legal fight. The humane society will tie this thing up in court till there is no more money for usark to spend. I still would like to know exactly how usark saved retics and boas? What about all the individual states doing there own bans? Is usark going to fight those battles as well? Here in va they have just proposed to ban all pythons and boas excepts balls, gtp, and angolans. Is usark going to fight va? They cant. Theres not enough money nomatter how much you give. The humane society has people donate entire estates when they die, millions upon millions of dollars gets donated to them. Do you really think that 20 dollar donations will do anything? Seriouslly peoe need to get a grip on the situation and not act out of sheer fear and anger and look at it calmly. Petitions and protests and using the media will go alot further then trying to fight the humane society in a lawsuit. The humane society spearheaded this and will bankrupt usark.

I found this counter-letter posted by some experts on another forum;
