Where to find Mizuri or Harlan block in CA????
I've been buying rodent blocks from my local hardware store. I'm looking to upgrade to Harlan or Mazuri.

Does anyone in Northern California know of a local dealer? I've looked at Mazuri's website's dealer page and it only shows livestock and exotic feed in my area.
Online shipping is $70 for a $20 bag. Crazy huh!!! And I don't have enough rats to do autoship on petfooddirect/nationalpetpharmacy. It seems ridiculous to pay shipping that cost more than the product....

The nearest rodent breeder I know that uses lab blocks lives hours away. The rest use mixed feed or dog food....So doubling up on an order doesn't seem possible....

    *sigh* -____-

I drizzle between Davis and the East Bay. I go to university in Davis and my parents live close to Berkeley.

How fast do your rats go through a bag of Harlan? How many rats do you have?

I'm still pretty new to breeding rats. I started with 1.3 in October and raised them from pups. I got a 40lb bag of Native Earth just before Thanksgiving and I probably have about half a bag left. I don't know exactly how much since I divided up the blocks into smaller storage bins. I recently had 3 litters the past 3-4 weeks and noticed the females were eating more as they were nursing. So, I am guessing that a bag will last me about 3-4 months with 1.3 rats. I could be wrong though since they are now breeding. I was planning on ordering more at the end of Feb. If you are interested in a few bags I can order it now but you would have to pick up here.

I'm from East Bay myself. Here are some websites, the top 2 are companies that sell locally in San Jose, and the 3rd link is the Northern California Rat Community if you are interested in that. Could be useful since it's local.

I have small group of rats as well. I have 2:6 and a few miscellaneous rats for fun. I'm planning to get more girls in the next few days though.

And I would've loved to join the order, but I just got a call from a semi-local place that would order me the Mazuri 6f. It's $39 for 50lbs, but I figure the extra cost is going to be equal to the gas+time driving to SJ.
    Thank you for the offer.

And thanks for the links. I'll be sure to keep them in mind as well.

Wow 20 bucks for a fifty pound bag ?

That is a good price. Where is this store if you don't mind me asking. The best price I have found is 24.50 a bag.

I know right!! Harlan blocks online were $70 shipping for me too. That is just so crazy. Turns out the feed store I found had a smaller bag of Mazuri than the 50lb one. It was $19 for a 20 lb bag :( not so much of a deal. And its in Concord. Just a tad far for you Zombie :p
As I mentioned before, I migrate between Davis and the Bay.

However, I called the feed store in Lodi and they had 50lb bags for $39. That's less than a dollar a pound. Not too shabby considering its hard to find Mazuri in California. It seems that everyone out of state gets the best prices :(

If your wanting mazuri you need to contact a purina mills inc dealer. There are plenty of them. They can order the 6f and 9f in 50lb bags. The other stuff, can't remember the number, is a 25 lb bag.

This worked for me. I called every dealer listed on the dealer locator page

    http://www.mazuri.com/Home.asp?Products=2&Opening=4

every one of them could add the feed to the next Purina order..all of them were right around 24 - 25 bucks a bag for the 6F.
