Feeding Frozen thawed or Live While Breeding?
Do you feed live or frozen in breeding season. It seems to me my snakes don't put on much weight with frozen. So, do you guys feed frozen during breeding season or when your trying to fatten up a female?

I can only get my male to take live during breeding season. He will just cruise over the top of frozen thawed and ignore them completely.

I feed whatever they usually get in my case live.

Keep in mind that while some will switch back and forth (especially females after laying their eggs) some won't so if you want to switch prey type make sure you are ready and willing to do this permanently in the event they will not switch back.

I switch to live. None of mine will eat F/T during breeding season, this is how I keep them eating till the end.

I feed whatever I have on hand. I have some live-only eaters, but when I'm using FT, the ones that will take it, get FT. Whether breeding or not. Makes no difference.

I'm currently feeding live to everything, since I have a local supplier of live available now.

I have noticed 0 difference in weight gain between FT and live.

Ok I probably am just not feeding frequently enough.

I feed live since I breed my own rats. I would like to switch one of my girls to f/t since she is a monster and I think she would eat a carrot if I put it in front of her, we'll see how it goes though. The reason I want to switch her is because she has been bit a few times since she is eating medium to large rats.

Mine are eating frozen no problem (even a female which was not interested in f/t prey before breeding season :D). Only those which are normally eating live (one of my males) gets only a small live mouse and then as he is finishing I stick a f/t rat in his mouth and he eats no problem - much safer then giving him live rats ;).

All of mine were killing f/t rats leading up to the middle of breeding season then the went off feed. I introduced live and they kept eating for another month and just now went off feed from live as well. Also its not really unsafe feeding live rats as long as you keep an eye on them to make sure they kill it. Man how did these snakes ever survive in the wild without our help lol.
